The update issue has resolved itself today. I just updated the package list and it installed no problem.
The update manager is throwing an error about these packages being non-authenticated. They look like packages from the official ubuntu repo.

I did this pair of commands, followed by a sudo apt-get upgrade
Which told me to do another sudo apt-get -f install
Same result, its still broken.
