    [ubuntu] Re: Dell mini 10

I am using that already, and that was what I was talking about. The 2d support is horrible... essentially only giving the correct resolution. There is no hardware accel., and the 3d is both bad and...

    [ubuntu] Re: Dell mini 10

I would HIGHLY recommend the Mini 10v over the Mini 10 (and the Mini 12). The 10v uses the Intel GMA 950, and the 10 (and 12) use the Intel GMA 500.

As of right now, there is no joy to be had for...

[ubuntu] Re: Installing on the Dell Mini 12

Are you using the -13 kernel or the -11 kernel? If you removed the new packages and are using the -11 kernel it should not be surprising that your system is working... you just reverted to the last...

[ubuntu] Re: Installing on the Dell Mini 12

It seems to be a completely random thing... sometimes it freezes five minutes in, other times it never gets me and I shut it down properly.

Yes, I'm having the issues as well. I sent an email to the person adding poulsbo packages into the ubuntu-mobile ppa and asked him if he knew of the problems.

[ubuntu] Re: Installing on the Dell Mini 12

After the xpsb update my .11 kernel stopped letting X start, but the .13 suddenly started working just fine... Fortunately I did not have to monkey around with anything, other than modprobe wl to...

[ubuntu] Re: Installing on the Dell Mini 12

Sorry to not answer before. I use jaunty because it has the latest versions of the programs that I use on a daily basis. Dell's upgrade/update methods are now how I like my system to be managed. ...

[ubuntu] Re: Installing on the Dell Mini 12

The issue you are having sounds like it is because you are booting the system with the wrong kernel. The kernel from the original jaunty install works with the psb driver, but the newer kernel does...

[ubuntu] Re: Installing on the Dell Mini 12

Unfortunately the old video driver stuff does not work for the newer kernels. There is work (or rumor of work) being done to get the system to work properly and add 3D support, but it is more than...

I'm using ext4 at the moment, but I'm not aware of any particular performance improvements, though I've read that there are some. I just chose it for the new car smell.

  18. [ubuntu] Re: connecting two ubuntu pc's through local wireless

To connect to a remote host (in another country even) you would essentially need their ip address or hostname, and have the connection able to get through (not behind a firewall that blocks it).

  20. [ubuntu] Re: Where Could i download the original linux OS?

As the others have added, linux is not an operating system, linux is technically a kernel. The kernel is essentially the base that everything is built upon.

    Distributions like Ubuntu are simply...
