Have you tried Lubuntu? Or just installing LXDE from the repos & using it instead of Unity? Even Xubuntu/XFCE might give you better performance.

I don't think that would be fair at all. They're using Windows, ergo they are Windows users.
Lars, I know you're technically correct (the best kind of correct) in that Android uses the Linux...
By the way, if you're asking for the purposes of scripting, rather than just curiosity: you should use a shebang line like:
#! /usr/bin/env zsh
...if you're writing zsh scripts. This...
It's a free registration, though. Of course, the free version is rather limited in terms of codec support, but the paid version is peanuts compared to its rivals.
'Audio channel' normally refers to mono (1 channel) vs. stereo (2 channels) vs. surround-sound (6 or more channels), btw.
All modern container formats should support multiple audio tracks. I think...
As far as I can tell, they're just switching to digital distribution (and using the 'cloud' buzzword, and getting more control over what their customers can do), so this won't affect porting it to...
There's no-one alive today whose parents or grandparents were killed by Alexander the Great.
I'd have to know more of the conversation to decide, but I'm not sure why anyone would say 'Whatever else you think of the [REDACTED], he did achieve great things.' unless they were trying to be...
This has go to be the nerdiest quiz I've ever taken.

I don't think that animals being 'cruel' in the wild is any kind of excuse for humans being unnecessarily cruel, which is what factory farming of livestock amounts to. Most people regard humans as...
Avoiding dependency hell is what I'm talking about. Maybe some kind of apt-variant to grab the deb and all its dependencies.
It is true that we are lacking a decent, standardised way of installing stuff without an internet connection.
You could try adding '-profile main' or '-profile baseline' in there. I believe that the recent iPhones support the High profile (which is used by default with x264 in ffmpeg, IIRC), but older ones...
It's actually my preferred NLE, on Windows; I've just today learned that they've finaly released a public beta for Linux (this still doesn't solve the problem of an After-Effects replacement, so I'll...
Oh, sweet. I've been using Lightworks on my Windows side for about a year now, and it's been great, nice to see it finally coming to Linux.
The only thing that stops me using Linux 100% is the lack of a high-quality video NLE, and related software.
Please file a bug report about that.
You'd probably be better off starting your own thread for that.
Did you follow a guide for compiling?
I've seen reports that Ubuntu is slowly turning into a rolling release (or 'semi-rolling', whatever that means) distro, so maybe this problem won't even come up.
There are legitimate uses, if you're involved in anti-government stuff, or have some other reason to believe that someone is trying to track you.
Old thread is old but: yes, in shantiq's post '-ab' means 'audio bit rate'; to get 48 kbps you'd use '-ab 48k'. However, in more recent versions of ffmpeg '-ab' is in the process of being replaced...
The PS3 is locked-down hardware with a specially-designed application for playing netflix. I don't know if it even uses Silverlight in the first place.
They claim to offer 'mentoring', so it might be worth it if you don't think your writing is up to the standards of publication. That's really up to you, though - I'd say that you'd be better off...
I read somewhere that cats doing that was actually them trying to train you to hunt - mother cats do the same thing with their kittens.
Generally speaking, magazines won't be interested in buying any short stories that have been published before, especially online for free - since there's a pretty good chance that a lot of their...
