[ubuntu] Help with Dell Inspiron 1525

My friend has a Dell Inspiron 1525. Everything works except for the wireless. I'm not sure which card it has, but LSPCI in the terminal returned a Broadcom BCM4312 card.

    Does anyone know how to...

    Re: Paradox?

I've got a Dell Mini 1012. When I use the LiveUSB, I can use the internet just fine. However, when I install Ubuntu from the same USB, it doesn't let me use the nonexistent drivers.

    Re: Paradox?

Is there any way to transfer them to the installation, or have it install the correct set of drivers when I install?

    Paradox?

I want to know something. I've run Ubuntu off the LiveCD multiple times. Every time, I always find the drivers I need. However, when I install it, I lose the ability to use those drivers. Why is this?

Re: A few questions about 10.04

Actually, I just want to use the default Windows bootloader, in conjunction with iReboot.

Re: A few questions about 10.04

Well, I'm planning on installing it onto a Dell Mini 1012, so I can't exactly buy a new PC... And I don't want to virtualize, since that's never worked well for me.

    A few questions about 10.04

Hello there! It's me again, yes... After giving up for a while, I've decided to try this out again, since the new LTS just arrived. So I've got a few questions.

    One: Does it support Broadcom...
  10. Re: Chile Earthquake May Have Shortened Days on Earth

Correction. Average added time over a lifetime is a measly .03 of a second. That's three-hundredths of a second, people.

Enjoy that time. Buy a bagel.
  11. Re: How would I get my music running over here?

Alright, thanks. I haven't gotten around to installing that or flash yet, but I'll do that once I get my music synced over. I love Dropbox.
  12. Re: How would I get my music running over here?

There are converters, and I could convert them to AAC, and I'm sure I could go from there. However, I don't want to convert my entire library to AAC. I want to convert them directly from .m4p. Or...
  13. Re: How would I get my music running over here?

I want to convert them because they're all in .m4p format. Unless you know of an easier way...?

And if I could have this moved, then that'd be great.

  14. How would I get my music running over here?

Hello! I'm done having troubles, so I have questions now. I've decided to put my entire iTunes collection on my netbook, and probably have it run to reencode the music to .ogg or something while I'm...
  15. Re: [newbies only please] What do you have to do in the terminal?

I do a lot of "Sudo apt-get install --reinstall bcmwl-kernel-source"'ing.

My installations break weekly. And I'm getting tired of it. Where's that Win7 OEM disk?

    Sorry, just couldn't resist. :P
  17. Re: US Secret Service relies on 1980s mainframe at 60% capacity

I highly doubt that the Secret Service would use an old, faulty mainframe. It's probably a cover of some sort for the supercomputer they're using in the basement.

Poll: Re: Are you using gnome-shell or have you tried ?

Well, this redefines the desktop. We're used to taskbars and menubars and all sorts of things. If you look at Windows 7, theirs takes up a good inch of your screen! Here, however, we have this tiny...

Re: new News on the open source Battle

So we'll still be able to choose our software, the internet will stay up, and life will go on as-is?

Yay. Now stop overhyping, and go back to sitting around, making Conky scripts.

Re: Use Open Source? Then You're a Pirate!

Heck, they can't do this. The United States Government, the very country they're coming from, uses Linux to run the Air Force's Supercomputers. The USG is not going to give that up. They are not...

  23. Re: Why is there no GTK theming tool with a GUI?

  24. Re: Why is there no GTK theming tool with a GUI?

Not entirely, but it's a start. Hey, we're dealing with Open Source Software here, why not add a few features, hmm? :D
  25. Why is there no GTK theming tool with a GUI?

I've noticed that there is no GTK Theming tool with a GUI. There's just the text editor. Why is this? It certainly can't be that difficult to make a GUI frontend for this kind of thing, and it'd help...
