    Re: HOWTO: Install Lexmark Z55 printer

    For the /usr/lib/cups/filter/rastorz55 error:

    cd /usr/lib/cups

    [ubuntu] Re: boot problems after first update.

    This works for me. My notes on the slight differences:

    * I downloaded the live CD. When booting from the live CD I was offered the choice of "trying" ubuntu or installing. I chose "try".

    * I...
  3. [ubuntu] Re: Issue with configuring tff-mscorefonts-installer

    Don't feel stupid. This is an absurd UI. If it wants us to use TAB to go to the next field, it should tell us to use TAB to go to the next field. There is no reason for us to think that we should...

    Isaac's posting appears to be completely unrelated to this thread. I assume he posted to the wrong thread. The link he references discusses problems with fstab possibly associated with a long...
  5. [SOLVED] Re: update broke ubuntu - "udev is unconfigered"

    This appears to be a bogus web-site. It constantly redirects. It would appear that jintachi is a spammer.
  7. Poll: Re: Sound Is Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala`s biggest problem ?

    For my own reference, since I run into these problems once a quarter since I make my three kids use Linux as well as myself, and I'm the sysadmin:

  8. Poll: Re: Sound Is Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala`s biggest problem ?

    @vertex pusher

    Thanks for the clear concise instructions. I now have sound output.

    I still don't have a microphone working. I debug this using skype, make a test call, echo server. But...

    [ubuntu] Re: ubuntu 9.10 AppArmor profiles failed to load

    For me, the app armor message appeared somewhere in passing, and my problem may or may not be related. My boots were hanging as well. I was able to boot to recovery mode.

    I resolved my problem...

    [ubuntu] Re: 9.10 hangs during boot after upgrade

    I resolved this by booting the recovery kernel, and selecting the "repair" option. After 15 to 30 minutes and answering a couple of prompts, the repair finished. The system them rebooted normally.

    [ubuntu] Re: ubuntu 9.10 AppArmor profiles failed to load

    I'm confused. If the system won't boot, exactly how are we supposed to click on the non-existant gnome menu? And why would we look in some random user's home account for debugging information?

    [ubuntu] Re: URGENT: dkpg error
