    After a little more digging I've realised that not only are the power options missing but dvd drive is not being munted using "nodm".

    However if I exit and restart xbmc using sudo xbmc in terminal...

    Sussed it after many tutorial fails.

    Basically all you need to do is copy the shortcuts playonlinux creates...

    Sorry, don't think I've been clear.

    I mean all files...for example .docx... I want to open with corrosponding office 2007 program....i.e. word 2007 in this case.

    Got office 2007 running on Ubuntu 14.04 fine using playonliux.
    Doing this as a test really, to see if would be worth installing Ubuntu on my Mrs's netbook, Office is a must have for her....

    Must of been something to do with re-using old home, don't get how as removed all settings/config files but anyhow alls well that ends well lol.

    Installed again from torrent download incase other burn was corrupted, created startup USB and installed....result same!

    Thinking maybe fact that trying to keep old home...
