Re: Cannot run application from terminal

I went with the Windows setup. I have not been able to get this working in Ubuntu.

    Such a disappointment.

Re: Cannot run application from terminal

I should say that before I went through all these steps, I unstalled opengl using:

    sudo apt-get remove libqt4-opengl

I restarted and then went through all the steps.

    Did you keep opengl?

[SOLVED] Re: Best Linux for laptop

    XUbuntu
    LUbuntu
    Linux Mint Debian Edition

You may also want to consider Bodhi Linux. It is based on Ubuntu and it uses Enlightenment.

Well, if Ubuntu(-based) is out, then:

    Debian
    MacPup
Manjaro Linux XFCE version (is it based on Ubuntu???)
    Zenwalk (XFCE)
Linux Mint Debian Edition (this might be a bit too heavy)

Okay, so I wiped out my Ubuntu 12.10 and re-installed it, ran all updates and then ran through your 6 steps.

Re: Cannot run application from terminal

So presumably you downloaded it into home/cgview. Correct?

    Was that on 12.10?

Does the order of your steps 4 and 5 make a difference? I mean, I have already run step 5, but not step 4.

Re: Cannot run application from terminal

In which folder was the .tar.gz file downloaded - was it the Downloads folder? Was a folder created in /usr/local (as the user manual indicated), or did you just use the Downloads folder?
