  1. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 x64 crashed on me, how to diagnose what went wrong?

I just tried dmesg again and realized I was just looking at the very end of the output. Looking at the beginning parts, the following appear multiple times throughout, not necessarily together:

  2. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 x64 crashed on me, how to diagnose what went wrong?

Another quick note, when the computer initially crashed, I did open up the tower to see if anything was running really hot and it did not seem like anything was.
  3. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 x64 crashed on me, how to diagnose what went wrong?

Using the recovery mode, I ran dmesg. I don't know what I'm looking for, but there were no obvious error messages. Does this mean I can rule out hardware issues? I've attached a pic of the output...

As the title says, my computer just crashed on me; details below. I luckily recently backed everything up, so I'm not trying to recover anything, I'd just like to know if and how there is a way to...

  13. [ubuntu] Re: Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: ia32-libs

There's an end bit to the error message if that helps; full message is:
Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: ia32-libs (>= 20080808)
  14. [ubuntu] Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: ia32-libs

Trying to install some .deb files, and I keep getting this error message. I went into Synaptic and ia32-libs is installed. I reinstalled it, still getting error message. Any ideas how to fix this?

    [ubuntu] Protecting folders

    Hi, all.

I'm curious if it is possible in Ubuntu to password protect a given folder? As well, is it possible to make sure that the folder is never accidentally shared on a network?

    Thanks.

Re: Things that you hate in Ubuntu

I dislike that I have to use Windows still for MS Office (formatting compatibility) and a technical program that I need for work that only runs in XP.

Other than that, I'm pretty happy w Ubuntu...
