Re: DOTA2 will be on Linux soon!

So Dota 2 only uses the original source engine? :( Pity.

Re: DOTA2 will be on Linux soon!

    Awesome.

What engine does Dota2 use? Source 2? That would probably mean we can expect other source 2 games soon....

Re: Minecraft + Linux = Problems (SOS)

Another fix for the lwjgl problem is to use Oracle Java 6 instead of 7.
  6. Re: What is the best brand/type of joystick for ubuntu

That depends on which product you're talking about of course ;)

Re: Cheap gaming mouse with at least 10 buttons?

The Roccat Kone + looks ok, although perhaps a bit smaller than a MX518?
I'm a little bit wary of buying another mouse with DPI+- buttons, which this has...they definitely publish their remapping...
  8. Re: Which Steam games have you bought BECAUSE of Linux support?

Oh, it's $10 here too now, it must have been on special when I bought it.

    You're missing the point... ;)

[ubuntu] Re: Can't launch magnet link in transmission

A work-around (not a solution) is to drag magnet links from your browser window into an open transmission window.

Cheap gaming mouse with at least 10 buttons?

I have a Logitech MX518 which has 2 main buttons, a clickable scrollwheel, and 5 extra buttons, for a total of 10 inputs.

Unfortunately 2 of the extra buttons (#6 and #7) are mapped at a VERY low...
  12. Which Steam games have you bought BECAUSE of Linux support?

We (Linux users) should be incredibly thankful to Valve - they are the ones spending money on Linux games, and taking a risk. Other publishers will follow them only if their risk pays off, and a...
  13. Re: Half-Life 3, Left 4 Dead 3, and more turn up in internal Valve documentation

There's no reason at the moment to think they won't.

In the long term though we all have to remember that they're a business, so they exist to make a profit - if we want the Linux part of their...

[all variants] Re: Logitech MX518 -- Remap the DPI Buttons

I have been searching today, and although I still don't have a solution, I thought I'd share the little snippets about this issue that I've learnt, in case someone finds them useful:

  15. Re: Any Australians who've turned on the gore in Linux L4D2?

Ah ha! I have been given a solution for starting the game directly, instead of through Steam:

    Some things to...

  19. Re: Any Australians who've turned on the gore in Linux L4D2?

Just realised that was a silly question: I forgot that as well as changing that file you also have to start the game directly from its executable, not through Steam...so the same fix most probably...
  20. Any Australians who've turned on the gore in Linux L4D2?

In windows we just edited the steam_appid.txt file from "550" to 510", but I've done that in my Linux version, and it's not working - bodies just disappear as soon as the zombies die.
    I also tried...

    I take it back :(

I was testing with button 10, not buttons 6 and 7 which are my problem ones.

Easystroke doesn't recognise buttons 6 or 7 either.
