gtk-recordMyDesktop outputs a .ogv format, which Youtube interprets as a completely green video. And Istanbul can't manage to not crash long enough to squeeze out a file at all.

I have a Dell Dimension 3000, Ubuntu 10.04.
I often suspend and wake it throughout the day, sometimes as many as 10. Will this have adverse affects on the hardware's performance/longevity?

I solved my problem (I think). I inserted a laser cleaner disk, and my DVDs don't seem to be having trouble anymore.
