[ubuntu] Re: Acer Aspire Timeline X 3820T

I bought this machine and installed 10.04, no problems. I don't care about the webcam and mic, so for me everything works great. Fan works the same as with Windows, screen shuts off when idle, wifi,...
  2. Re: Call for testing, Gwibber (Lucid and Maverick)

I'm not using the PPA version of Gwibber, but on both Maverick and Lucid, the OAuth dialog was in French for me. See attachments. What package would that bug be against?
  3. [SOLVED] Re: Ithink my encrypted SD card is now being mounted read-only. Why would that be?

that was it, wow, usually I don't get caught by such stupid things. Thanks & sorry for wasting your time...
  4. [SOLVED] Ithink my encrypted SD card is now being mounted read-only. Why would that be?

Since recently, my encrypted SD card seems to be mounted read-only. In System Monitor (Ubuntu Lucid) shows the device as /dev/mapper/udisks-luks-uuid-then-a-whole-bunch-of-numbers, it's ext4. Even if...
  5. [SOLVED] Re: bash script question - run different rsync cmds based on which devices are mounte

FYI, here's the script as I have it working now. Stored in my Ubuntu One folder, it can be used on each of my computers. I'm sure it could be better, but it does what I need.

Re: Lubuntu - How to change from 24 hour clock?

    man 3 strftime

    explains the format codes too.

Re: Lubuntu - How to change from 24 hour clock?

    http://php.net/manual/en/function.strftime.php

You might want %r Example: 09:34:17...
  8. [SOLVED] Re: bash script question - run different rsync cmds based on which devices are mounte

thank you very much, that's what I hoped for something to get me started. Awesome!!!
  9. [SOLVED] Re: bash script question - run different rsync cmds based on which devices are mounte

I'm reading up and think it will somehow probably use the output from

    ls -l /dev/disk/by-uuid

that gives the uuid of the mounted devices, right?
  10. [all variants] Re: What is a great free operating system from Linux?

No, IMHO, there isn't a better one than Ubuntu. You can try the other flavours, Xubuntu, Lubuntu... but I wouldn't say you'd want to use them as your main desktop. You can be fine for most of what...
  11. [SOLVED] bash script question - run different rsync cmds based on which devices are mounted

Since my hobby is distro-hopping, I am very careful about having my data backed up properly, but it's also in different places (e.g. photos and music on separate flash drives), so I have a few...
  12. [all variants] more recent software update than in repo

Hi, what's the process for updating software in the repos? I'm hoping that GRAMPS 3.1.1 makes it into Jaunty (it currently is at 3.0.4).

    Is it already too late?

    Is there a process for...
