The bug free package for hardy wasn't built until this year and has the ending "-5" not "-2". So I imagine he's running a version with the bug still present.
You can get the latest one at...
Thanks for that helpful bit of info.
What I had to do get oggenc with aotuv 6.03 on 32bit working.
1.
sudo apt-get build-dep libvorbis vorbis-tools
2. Get the source code for aotuv 6.03...
That's very odd. There isn't an soffice.desktop file in the program folder so nothing should be looking for it.
ls /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/so*

Had the same issue. The problem is caused by a mistake in the quickstarter script.
Open a terminal and type
sudo nano /usr/lib/libreoffice/share/xdg/qstart.desktop

Your first dependency problem could be solved by also installing the hardy client deb for hylafax too from packages.ubuntu.com.
Also for metamail try getting the hardy package for that as well. It...
Sorry to bump an old thread but I'm still lost with this one.
I really need to get nx server working on my Xubuntu 10.10 laptop but I run into the "cannot rum cdwm" problem.
Since the Hylafax bug in 10.04 I just run the Hardy 8.04 packages
http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/hylafax-server
They work fine on Karmic and I don't get any crashes.
Does anyone know a fix for this?
I'm trying run an NX server on a xubuntu machine and I get the cannot rum cdwm message. It worked fine on Lucid.
Solved.
Go into settings editor -> xfce4 session -> shutdown
Enable the two button options in there.
Why it was disabled for 10.10 is an odd decision.
When I was running 10.04 I was able to select the sleep option in XFCE's logout menu and it worked perfectly. I've just done a fresh install of 10.10 and now the sleep option is missing. How can I...
Assuming your network card is eth0:
sudo nano /etc/network/interfaces
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
address 127.0.0.1
netmask 255.0.0.0
Unfortunately the packages in that PPA have now moved onto to version 4.7. Oh well, will just have to wait and see if it gets back ported. The last talk of it happening was back in May and nothing...
If you want "mingetty --autologin username tty1" to work in lucid you have to disable the plymouth boot logo by removing quiet and splash from the kernel options in /etc/default/grub then run sudo...
An easy way to do it is to go into /etc/update-motd.d/ and disable the executable bit on the parts of the motd you don't want to see. So in my case I only left 00-header and 99-footer executable. Now...
I think the Trident card is definitely a stumbling block. Asking it to do desktop effects will only exacerbate the problem, couple that with a slow CPU and maybe even SDRAM and you will really...
For some videos your CPU is probably too slow to play without experiencing choppyness. Lower resolution vids should be just fine.
As for your GFX card, it is likely not helping at all. I know...

Pingus doesn't want to read its configuration file
I have created .pingus/config

I had this problem upgrading a hardy server to lucid.
The old modules.conf file is not compatible with the new proftpd-basic package.
Copy your /etc/proftpd/proftpd.conf to a safe place then do...
bump for great justice
I just did
sudo apt-get purge apt-xapian-index
on a lucid system with no ill effects. Now my movie watching is no longer randomly paused.
Just to let anyone with this problem know. The nvidia-96 drivers in Lucid are free from this problem.
