Thank you very much for this post, it helped me get my MP495 working on Ubuntu 12.10
I am also missing this feature. One of the reasons I switched from Fedora to Ubuntu back in 2006 was the ability to share the soundcard between fast switching users. So much for progress...
To use a higher port, just download Vuze directly from sourceforge.

does backintime save backups as root?
Just noticed a quick way to fix the Shiretoko user agent permanently, without installing an extenstion. Go to about:config and find the string general.useragent.extra.firefox . Change that string...
As I mentioned, because of the user agent being Shiretoko, Facebook won't work properly unless you use a user agent switcher.
That's great
I'm only 24, but I'm feeling like an old man here. I remember the days of Red Hat 9 where I had to manually compile GAIM and all it's dependencies just to get the GTK2 version of it working. Now we...
I find this pointless because a workaround has been found. At first when I read 3.5 came out I was pissed waiting for an update. I searched the forums, found this thread, and installed the package...

Well I was tired of waiting and downloaded Firefox 3.5 directly from Mozilla, extracted the tar.gz file and it works fine. This is the same thing I have to do with Vuze inorder to have an up-to-date...
Not even as a backport?
But when will the Firefox meta-package replace 3.0 with 3.5 final?
Have you tried any of it's networking features? I was thinking of getting one and connecting it to my router and then printing from my Ubuntu desktop and my Windows XP Netbook and was wondering if...
It probably is the operating system, but I'll wait for a stable update instead of trying the beta.
I have the same issue. I can access the microsd card on the blackberry when its plugged in with no problems (usually mounted as BLACKBERRY2). But when I try to access the internal memory...
Gnome
Yes that's my problem now, I want it stuck to the desktop but not on top of other windows or reserving it's own space on the side.
I've tried that and it does nothing
Lack of linux support doesn't bother me much anymore because of the Roku box.
I completely agree
