Well I have installed it freshh on 3 seperate pc's --non of them work.

If I rememebr correctly...

the default install (for me Gutsy) didn't ask me where I wanted to install grub and just defaulted.... (I have no idea where too!?)

I used to be like that (when it was starting to bceome popular to copy the OSX theme for KDE/Gnome ... and I didn't mind having the menu bar at the top on KDE)

"alternate" actually refers to a ubuntu iso image that has some added abilities...

I presume Wubi would need these added abilities.

I would have to agree - I stilll have a Ubuntu computer but only check email with it - and only cause I can't be stuffed transfering it to Thunderbirdon Windwos.

Put it this way when MSdos came out people bought it with thier computers - and most of the time they had to set it up themselves. (Back then computer stores didn't really have professionals in them...
