Hi Chris!
Always post your problems in the forum, its useless to
discuss it in private e-mails.
Did I understand your mail correct, the Ubuntu Version from last year will boot from the stick,...
From Chris:
Forgive this message and for not posting it on a forum but it is
specific to ACER Timeline series laptop.
I have a problem installing the AMD64 Karmic on this (Acer Timeline x...
We have been inspired from this news article.
Hi! Can anybody recommend a 15" laptop with an Intel i7 for Ubuntu?
About 8hours battery life time and a little graphics power would be nice.
We made some benchmarks for a SU4100, SU7300 and Atom...
Thanks for contributing to the wiki! I hope more people would dare to touch it! Some sections still have to written, like using an external monitor.
An other thing:

Hi!
I would like to announce, that I created a wiki for setting up Ubuntu 9.10 on the Acer Aspire 1810TZ.
It is mainly a summary of this thread here and this thread (in German).
*** A big...
Hi! Partly based on this thread, I created a wiki for the 1810TZ. You are very welcome to expand it!
Aspire1810TZ/Karmic
Yes, contribute to the user documentation! The picture in help.ubuntu.com/community/MacBook2-1/Karmic seems indeed to be broken.
Never mind !...
I can't confirm that. I have a brand new 3xE with an Atom Z520 @ 1.33GHz and the performance is absolutely alright. The system has a TDP < 10W, that is very good compromise.
I have tried UNR, EasyPeasy and the normal desktop edition. I can't recommend EsayPeasy, it is not offical and thus not guarantied to be up to date. The latest release is based on 9.04. The desktop...
One Question: Can you watch HDTV on your netbook?
I can't. Everything else is perfectly alright from the performance, now that I have the video driver working on my EeePC 1101HA.
The HDTV...
Got it finally working. For the GMA500 / Poulsbo chipset on a Asus EeePc 1101Ha and Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic desktop edit I had to follow this wiki:

Yes. It can hardly play videos.
The core frequency of the processor is 1.3Ghz. Older 3xE Pc's had 1.6Ghz. Maybe (I am just guessing here!) the new proc works more parallel, has a better cache...
For those of you who use UNR, I have a question: How long does it take on your netbook until a menu gets updated, when you switch from one menu entry to an other? I am am talking about the menu on...
I referred to this comment. But it was a misunderstanding. Sorry!
 Not a bad one.
You have to admit, in the end it was worse all the time we spend discussing.
You tried to set up the Apple remote on a MBP5.1 and you didn't make it work? Well, that is at least a start. In this case you should open a new thread.
We shouldn't copy an installation guide...
_mario_, good work! Very impressive! The bug seems to be basically fixed, but only for some keyboards. Did you find out further going information, like who wrote the table or why exactly these...
Just a guess: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MacBook4-1/Karmic#Brightness Controls
Yes, both of you are right. _mario_, on your Jaunty install the entry should still exist: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MacBook4-1/Jaunty#Swapped keys. I dislike the solution the Karmic wiki...
:KS The wiki for installing Karmic on the Macbook 4th generation is done! :KS
Well, almost. Only the section on how to install the remote is missing.
Maybe someone with an apple...
Oh no! I have to reopen this thread. I just realized, that I made a mistake yesterday.
The instructions that I used in the wiki are specific to my country. buntuLo, would you mind to add your...
You just have to create ~/.Xmodmap and put the instructions in there. You will than be asked to use you it:
