SeijiSensei,
Thanks but I am working with a command line only LAMP...so I'm guessing the process for creating a bootable USB stick is going to be quite different than the one outlined in the link...
Adding a quick note here...for some reason I cannot get any iso discs to be recognized by my system outside of 10.04.6...I have no idea why. All other discs get spit out of the drive...

Yes, actually it was my plan to update and upgrade but as I cannot even boot, I'm stuck. Is is possible to install 18.04 without overwriting content on my current system? I would need...
Hello,
I'm returning here to the forums after a LONG time away. I have a question about an Ubuntu LAMP (14.04) that used to work flawlessly but now will not boot. Short story: I have two Mac Minis...

No load, just idling behind my router without even any access from outside my LAN. :-(

Ok, here are my results for the day.
The XServe (with 10.04) stayed on all day without any issues. I did have one very abrupt fan acceleration to what sounded like full speed but it only lasted...
I may have made some progress but am not sure.
I updated all packages and dependencies last night and started up this morning and have been running without any shutdowns so far (about 7.5 hours)....
imrazor,
I was running 7.04 for several years prior to upgrading to 10.04 and never had this problem. Thinking maybe I'll have to go back to 7.04 because, as you stated, sudden shutdowns are not...
Update,
I'm now noticing that my XServe G5 abruptly shuts down after being on for several hours :-(

Anyone who can help,
I managed to regain control of my mac mini but I am not sure how. I left it for a day and installed my Ubuntu LAMP on an old PPC laptop just to get our website up.

Thanks, I'll try what you've suggested here later today.
Also, yes I did try holding alt/option when trying to start up but it had no effect.

I tried using the instructions that are linked here and ended up completely bricking my mac mini.
I can't boot anything now. Step 8 of "Single boot - ubuntu only" is a bit vague isn't it!

I know I'm being beyond impatient but what is going on with recent versions of Ubuntu??
