  2. Re: graphics no longer working after yesterdays update - desktop VM

Thanks to all that chimed in on this thread. If I understand correctly, while others had issues that may or may not have been the same, most are now resolved. Interesting. My issue remains and is...
  3. [SOLVED] Re: tried installing pending 03-22-24 1 problem

I got the same with the ISO from 2024.03.22 and 2024.03.23. I chimed in on corradoventu's bug report.
  4. Re: graphics no longer working after yesterdays update - desktop VM

I have started again, with a new install from the iso of 2024.03.23. Same issue. Launchpad is currently broken. Here is my pending latest bug report entry:

After a fresh install (from the...
  5. Re: graphics no longer working after yesterdays update - desktop VM

It turns out that my "graphics no longer working" title might be incorrect. It seems my VNC desktop screen is merely frozen, dark but frozen. Because I see a cursor, also frozen, in the screen.

  6. Re: graphics no longer working after yesterdays update - desktop VM

after a brand new re-install with the same result, I submitted a bug report and entered a FAIL in the testing tracker for todays ISO.
  7. graphics no longer working after yesterdays update - desktop VM

I have a 24.04 desktop VM running as a quest on my main Debian server. After updating it late yesterday, the graphics have stopped working. They work fine until after login, and they also work fine...

Re: Kernel 6.8 RC (Release Candidate) series

    Oh, Thanks. Finally.

I see that "generic" has finally moved to 1000Hz. In my opinion, this is huge news, and about time:

Re: Kernel 6.8 RC (Release Candidate) series

    Kernel 6.8 has been released.

The issue I mentioned in post #21 above has been fixed and I am able to compile the kernel under the version of the gcc compiler used in Ubuntu 20.04.

Kernel 6.8-rc7 is available. The patch for the issue I detailed in post #9 above is included. See commit:

  12. Re: UFW blocks port 25, with other instabilities

I really do not like UFW or trying to follow the resulting iptables rule set. I think the order here is wrong:

    -A ufw-before-input -d 224.0.0.251/32...

Re: Kernel 6.8 RC (Release Candidate) series

Yes, I did experience a similar array out of bounds error message during the kernel 6.6 RC series, but it was for different reason/bug and was fixed as of kernel 6.6-rc3. I do not use virtualbox and...

Re: UFW equivalents of iptables rules?

Yes, but the DHCP server can be on the same box as implements the router.

My main server box is a router/DHCP server/DNS server (internal only)/gateway to/from internet. I use iptables, as I...

I edited my earlier post a week ago with some actual turbostat data. I am not sure what else you want. I do have wall power, but it could not be representative because I have more memory, HDDs, SDDs,...

    Re: low power consumption cpu?

Intel Processor power consumption is not linear with CPU frequency. By limiting the maximum CPU frequency the maximum power consumed by the processor can be greatly reduced. My Intel(R) Core(TM)...
  21. [ubuntu] Re: there is a ufw block log for the ip address which i already allowed by ufw

As far as I can tell, those are nothing to worry about because they are all related to tcp session close stuff, "ACK FIN" or "RST".

For TCP connections, Linux tends to use a "half-duplex" close...
