You got Windows and ubuntu or just ubuntu as your main operating system, because having a OS selection screen takes a lot of time. If it was your main OS you could get it to boot at least 5 seconds...
How many partitions do you have currently? If you have 3 that is the reason it won't let you do anything.
I don't need it but I'd take a freebie ;)
Start fresh and install Windows 8 then Ubuntu alongside Windows 8.
Start again, install Windows 8 again then install Ubuntu. The way you want it so if you want Windows 8 to be the main OS then install that first and install Ubuntu alongside windows 8.
Go to the site which the modem is from and see if there are drivers or to see if there's information on how to set it up.
You will most likely be using Windows a lot more so i'd say go for 100gb windows and 60gb Ubuntu.
There is your problem, wubildr try installing with USB or CD then it will most likely work :)
I highly recommend using anything but WUBI for the simple reason that every time I try to install using it, there are always problems which then lead to other problems.
Go in the Software center and in History select the 'updates' tab and from there you can uninstall the updates, once you have done that just install the updates from the stable ppa instead of the...
Maybe you should try using the Windows 7 disc and start up repair, or use the Start up repair on Ubuntu. Maybe that will fix it. :)

'Ubuntu spyware makes it JUST AS BAD as Windows'
Nothing will make Ubuntu as bad as windows.
Yeah i've never had a problem with installing it via USB or Disc but when I seem to install it with wubi there is always a problem with it.
Install with disc or USB and it should be fine. :)
I agree, it could be that you have more than 4 partitions or it could be that you're not selecting the windows partition when you are trying to install it. Or try selecting the same partition which...
I'm not sure but I think it'll be ok if you delete it and remake it. Can't think of anything that would go wrong. :)
It makes it better/easier in the long run if you can type it in a text editor and use a debugger to execute it.
Use a program called synergy, you can use the computer which you want to use the mouse and keyboard from and move from one screen to another. It's really good and easy to setup.
Here it is:
...
Try this:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer

In that order, if that doesn't work check for updates in update manager and install them and...
You should press escape on start up and a screen will open asking to go to BIOS and more options. If that works put in the disc you got with your laptop and restore or try start up repair.
If it...
I want too but until I can play most of the games on it, I won't be fully switching over. Would love too though, really would.
If you're connected on XP and not on ubuntu then it's something to do with the drivers, there isn't anything wrong with your router. So are you using an Ethernet cable or wireless?
You might want to give us more information, like the computer/laptop model name. Are you using wireless or ethernet aswell?
