    You seem to have setup a proxy or something, because the IP address there points to your own computer @ port 4001. Check your resolv.conf....If nothing else, replace the URLS with the IP addresses...

    The lock file can be deleted without a problem. The /var/cache/apt/archives folder just stores the deb files that have been previously downloaded and installed.......so deleting them shouldn't...

    1)That's because a lot of programs are in the different repositories which are not enabled by default. Once you enable them (check my signature for how to do that), you will have all the programs...
