Hi, I am having an issue where I used the upgrade manager to run upgrades for my installation. now all I have is a black screen with varing shaded blocks and the word UBUNTU in the senter in grey.
in order to use UltraVNC wouldnt i have to install it onto the Ubuntu?

This happened to me as well. i discovered that the problem is because i was creating 4 partitions; 1 for Mac OS X, 1 for Windows, 1 for the Swap partition, and 1 for Ubuntu. now what i did to fix it...

i have tried debian linux with the same effect.
it was the same, still small i could not get the ubuntu desktop to stretch to the size of the monitor screen

i just installed version 11.04 on a dell inspiron 8100 the install went perfect up to the point where it asks me to restart. once i restarted i can not see the desktop. can someone help me please?
