I've upgraded to Hardy and now my resolution is maximum 1024x768. This is weird because in feisty I could go up to 1280x1024, which is the max resolution my LCD monitor can handle.
I have a...
Are you using compiz with XGL? That was my case and I had to remove XGL and use AIGLX (don't forget to enable the composite extension in xorg.conf).
You could try to plug the LCD via standard VGA. But I have also done this and when I switch to 800x600 to get tv-out the monitor gets out of range. See if this work for you.

Until amd64 packages for cinelerra 2.1 are available, you could try to download the 2.0-1 rpm version, and convert it to a deb file. I did, and I have cinelerra with capture support, etc... :)
I just did it a couple of days ago. Open the installation script file in text mode, and you'll see what's been installed and what files has beeen created. So, you know what to remove/delete.
