[ubuntu] Re: issues with firefox crashing

This problem's making my computer unusable. If I use the older nVidia driver, it won't render webpages right and when I scroll all the images on the page get garbled up. And forget about using flash....

[ubuntu] Re: issues with firefox crashing

If I open it from the terminal, how will I know if there are any errors? When the problem occurs it won't let me access anything. Is there a command to kill the process that's hung up or does it save...

[all variants] Re: Pidgin : Has You Blocked

I don't think that's even possible. It would sort of defeat the purpose of blocking people.

[ubuntu] Re: Geforce 6800 and Ubuntu 9.04

The nVidia drivers are proprietary so they won't be installed automatically. Try going to system>administration>Hardware Drivers and see if you can enable the restricted drivers there.

    EDIT:...

    [ubuntu] Re: nvidia x driver

It's a desktop and yeah, hibernate seems to work. I walked away without doing anything to it and it went to sleep and came right back up. Sound still works, which was always an issue on my laptop....

    [ubuntu] Re: nvidia x driver

Thank you for the responses. I did not reboot. I didn't realize I had to. Kind of feel like an idiot.

I restarted and now everything works peachy. Thanks again, guys.

  15. Re: Overheard at work: Open Office becoming more mainstream

Then you get to pick your HDDs, CPU, memory, graphics etc

I wonder why OO.o is super fast for some people and slow for me and some others.

Is it because I only have 512 meg of RAM?
  19. Re: Overheard at work: Open Office becoming more mainstream

Just do your homework so you don't end up with incompatable parts.
  21. Re: Overheard at work: Open Office becoming more mainstream

I still use it though because of the document...
