Have you installed linux on it?
Strange. I don't seem to have those problems.
You can do it by fiddling with the icon settings in the configuration preferences. I have mine set to "Always Visible", and it seems to work the way we are talking about here.
I am pretty sure that isn't the regular gnome panel.
It would help if you provide a little more specific information regarding the files. If you are trying to convert x264 .mkv files for the XBox 360, then you can just use Avidemux. Copy the video,...
I think I would definitely recommend Arch over Gentoo in your particular situation. Both will give you similar results, but with Gentoo you will be waiting forever to compile all the programs,...
Yeah, I have to agree here. I think LFS on that older rig would be a lesson in frustration and futility more than anything else, unless you are extremely patient. You might try either Ubuntu...
I just use Avidemux to convert the x264.mkv files for the xbox. The settings I use:
Video -> copy
Audio -> AAC, stereo
Container -> mp4
File name must be .mov for the XBox360 to play it....
Sound Converter just uses lame to convert to mp3. Just edit the mp3 instructions to whatever you want in the "preferences" menu.
Well, for the few times I have done things like this, I have just used Avidemux to change the video, and Audacity to change the audio. I usually had to time shift the audio by -150 milliseconds to...
Can't you just use Avidemux for that? Under the Audio tab select Film to Pal conversion, or have you tried that already?
What exactly are you trying to do? What format is the video in? What are you trying to change it to? What format is the audio?... Perhaps some more info on codecs and containers.
Did you read the instructions? All you have to do is copy and paste this command into a terminal and press 'enter'. To open a terminal, go to your top menu bar and select Applications ->...
Try Cinelerra. It should do the trick.
You can use Audacity to change the tempo of the audio track without changing it's pitch. Save the new audio file, and add it back to the video. I have had to do this a few times with some of my...
You have to start over with a re-install of the 64 bit OS.
Of course your statement might have some actual meaning if the discussion were about Debian. We are quite aware that ubuntu is based on the debian unstable branch, where snapshots are taken every...
Oh, looks like the trolls are out tonight.
Ubuntu is considered stable. So is ext4.
It can make ushare stop working because the IP address of one of the machines is lost. No other ideas immediately come to mind.
Check to make sure that you have set static IP addresses for the XBox and your PC. Sometimes they keep stealing the same IP address if you leave them as dynamic IP's.
There isn't a linux version.
Hey tanus, I don't have Ubuntu on my PC with the Canon printer right now, but if you can wait until after the weekend, I'll install Ubuntu on an empty partition and figure out the printer stuff.
If you read the ext4 kernel developers mailings, ext4 without a journal is much quicker than ext2, and with many other benefits.
Do you know which kernel version you need for this?
You can have them both installed on your system. You can then just choose which Desktop Environment at the login screen.
sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop will install kubuntu.
