check that you havent pointed your vdi to your secondary slave as your cd rom.
i had the same error as you and my problem seems to have been that i enabled my cd rom and chose the slave one instead...
i had the same error message and i found that my cd rom was enabled and defined as the secondary SLAVE rather than the secondary MASTER.
i changed it from slave to master and that sorted it out.
