Re: What would cause my computer to do this

If you would provide hardware and software information there is a better chance of someone with a similar setup helping find the problem.
Make, model, graphics hardware, CPU, monitor model,...
  3. Re: Where are Nvidia drivers stored and how to update them?

Have a look at this list which is an advanced search of the tutorial section for threads with nvidia in the title.
Worth reading a few of them, there is mention of the DKMS module used to ensure...

Try temporarily removing the other drive, booting, then adding it again.

How was the recovery made ?
Maybe try using testdisk to make a more successful recovery - warning: not tried to do this myself though.

Re: What changed during the latest 3 years?

Google's successful Linux based telephony has helped secure our desktop's future IMO.
Also, if anything, it will help Unity OS phones because governments will want technical/economic diversity.

Re: Anyone tried Fedora 21 Gnome?

It looks as though i was mistakenly treating the freeworld rpm apps as plugins when i last looked at
RPMfusion causing package conflicts, because now freeworld apps work as i hoped they might.

Re: What are the most helpful Android forums?

Although new to Android, i can see XDA is a well developed site but AndroidForums is worth visiting too, for their hardware specific subforums.

[ubuntu] Re: USB Card Reader not showing (14.10)

I use 14.04 now and yes it is a bit glitchy, certainly without using usbmount, did you install usbmount incidentally ?
I doubt this is a new bug, unique to 14.10.
Would you give the size of both of...

[ubuntu] Re: USB Card Reader not showing (14.10)

A pair of card readers and cards; that should make it a lot easier to identify any problems.
Although fstab uses a fairly straightforward series of entries of the form :
    <file system> <mount point>...

[ubuntu] Re: USB Card Reader not showing (14.10)

Hi Robbyx, was it not showing even with storage media inserted ?
I think only drives with some suitably formatted storage space show in nautilus.
Fstab requires a declaration of that formatting...

Don't think my step 3. should have been mentioned without first installing the package usbmount, which i suggest is done for tricky MMCs.

    Re: micro SD problems

These are my notes - not recently tested though.

    1. Use the disk utility to find the device name and mount point.
Say they show to be /dev/mmcblk0 and /media/mmcblk0 respectively then :

  16. Re: Fish Aquarium test how does your hardware/software stack up?

Try clicking on Advanced options, change the eye radius to about 62 and the mouse around the eye height for the 4k setting.
Make sure there are no drinks nearby.

  20. [SOLVED] Re: Computer not permanently recognising printer.

    Try connecting a different way.
If it was wireless or usb before and wired LAN is available, try that route.
