    2. Click on Current Session tab. Find gnome-panel there and set it's style to "Trash" and click Apply button. DO NOT close the Sessions Window.

    Can you surf in your browser to 74.125.45.100? If so you have a DNS problem. Then they are incorrectly set in your router.

    Look at the protocol. If it is something you would not expect (FTP/SSH/HTTP) look at wich IP-Address is generating this data.

    You're welcome! Maybe in the future you can help someone else with this. Most services can be restarted/stopped/started via /etc/init.d/"servicename" restart/stop/start.
