Thanks PDc, Gotta love Brothers work. Too easy. The only issue was where it asked for the URI. What it wants here is your Printers IP address which you will find under menu/network/TCPIP.
HI, I just recieved a message in my update area to install hardware support for Ubuntu 12.04. Is this part of an LTS upgrade to 14.04? Do I need to install it to make the transition to the new LTS or...
Hi,

Jason,
This is my opinion - only my opinion. If it is a home network then if it were me I would be happy with the working connection as it is and provided it is fully funvtional I would not change...

I had success here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2098998&page=2 getting my wireless working on a Toshiba NB305.
Primefalcon, my prayers are with you and your family.
I had success at this forum post here.
USB is always going to be slower and perhaps less reliable because it simply can't contain all the technology it needs to for a good all round experience. If you are just wanting something to get a...
Welcome back to Ubuntu. You may have to brave it and wipe your Lenovo clean.
Yes, but, there is always a risk and if you were able to do a clean install once you have backed up that might be preferable. It depends sometimes on what other configuration changes you may have...
Let us know if it works
I got my networking in 12.04 working using the info in this thread and then I rebooted.
The default upgrade option worked for me in Ubuntu. I moved up to 12.04 without any problems.
Nice. How do I get this for 12.04 Ubuntu?
What are you trying to upgrade exactly? A version? If so, which version from and to?
I also had good success using the instructions in this post. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=12078997&posted=1#post12078997
I got an answer for enabling Toshiba NB305 wireless for 12.04 by simply going to the terminal and entering:
sudo modprobe ath9k
Thanks. Also upgraded to 12.04 adn got wireless enabled on Toshiba NB 305 with the fix found here.
Sticking with 10.04 for now.
Possibly because many of the wireless Modems come with a router built in.
I also use a 64. To get the Scanner working I installed the two deb packages:
brscan-skey-0.2.3-0.amd64
brscan4-0.4.1-1.amd64
I had to have the following in my printer properties to get it working.
Location: BRN001BA9A525BC
Device URI: lpd://192.168.1.8/BINARY_P1
make and Model: Brother MFC7860DW for CUPS
Yes, indeed! this did work for both XSane and Simple Scan. Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64bit
Thanks!!
