[SOLVED] Re: XFCE weather applet problem after new updates

Thanks! This worked like a charm (once I figured out I wanted "R" mode, and not "I" like in vi).

I used the key found in the patch listed here

Re: Mount samba shares with utf8 encoding using cifs

Thanks. I am separated from the offending hardware for a week or so, but I will try it when I get back and report on the results. Let's hope this is it!
edit: Sorry about the edit. (wait... ;) )

Re: Mount samba shares with utf8 encoding using cifs

Yes, "strange characters". But again, same password as before...
edit:They're simply entered in plain text and without any quotes. As I said, this is what worked before, but does CIFS need them to...

Re: Mount samba shares with utf8 encoding using cifs

I had the domain in my credentials file, moved it out to fstab and still no luck.

So does CIFS provide a server as well as a client and if so is the CIFS server any different then a SMBFS server?...

Re: Mount samba shares with utf8 encoding using cifs

That's good to know, I didn't really understand the difference between CIFS and SMBFS. CIFS kind of came out of nowhere for me.

    $ cat /etc/samba/smb.conf | grep workgroup

    # Change this to the...

Re: Mount samba shares with utf8 encoding using cifs

    Hm.
So I recently updated from Gutsy->Intrepid on my laptop (I'd had a full HDD for the longest time and was lazy) and started getting an error 13 when trying to mount my smbfs shares. I've updated...

    [ubuntu] Re: Java Iriverter crash

Could you post a sample .conf file? I just installed iriverter and would like to see if I can get it to run if it has a .conf file (it does not create one on install)

Re: Does ANYONE have mythstreamtv working!??

Are you trying it within a LAN or remotely over the internet? Some ISPs block higher ports.

Re: Does ANYONE have mythstreamtv working!??

Do you have access logging turned on (I don't remember if it's on by default). If you do, look in your logs to see if there are any clues to why downloading is behaving differently than streaming.

Re: Does ANYONE have mythstreamtv working!??

Good point. I forgot... After making changes to www-data, you will always need to restart apache. Good to hear you've got it all figured out and thanks for documenting the missed step for anyone...

Re: Does ANYONE have mythstreamtv working!??

I do apologise. Too many stray "TV"s kicking around I guess. ;)

No. mythweb should be able to stream files 'on it's own' (it may require some other packages like ffmpeg, but it should pull those...

Re: Does ANYONE have mythstreamtv working!??

The issue probably is that mythweb does not have rights to read /mythtv... It's happened to me before. Which groups does the webserver's user (for apache2, www-data) belong to? For anyone reading...

Re: Nestopia for Linux! (installation woes)

To be honest, other than the GUIs I see little emulation difference... But I haven't used either one that much... Mednafen does have the benefits of being easiest to install for a new user though. If...

Re: Nestopia for Linux! (installation woes)

I think that means you're missing the development package of gtk, I believe it's mentioned somewhere else in this thread... but no worries, just install:
    gtk+2.0-dev
    from apt-get/synaptic/wherever....

  19. Re: The addicting "falling sand game." Is it downloadable?

That sounds like configure might be missing the execute permission. Did you unpack it in windows? That will strip the file permissions... Actually just unpacking it onto a VFAT fs might be enough to...
  20. Re: HOWTO: Remove insecure root 'grace period' from sudo

I think this is a good idea (if people don't want to turn it off all together, they should at least consider shortening the default time), more for gksudo than sudo itself. When I launch things from...
