In my flight to sanity from Unity to Xfce (Xubuntu 11.10) I've hit a little hiccup.
When I try to delete a file on a network shared directory using Thunar this message pops up in a window ......
Gigolo is slightly borked in that it needs a bit of fuse that isn't installed automatically.
Try this:
sudo apt-get install gvfs-backends
Then Gigolo can be used as described above.
You need to use Gigolo which, on a standard installation, doesn't work. Read on.
Gigolo is part of the standard installation.
Application Menu => System => Gigolo
Just check Gigolo is borked....
I've still got a PC on 10.04 running MythTv, but the LTS runs out next April, when I guess 12.04 LTS will kick in.
By then Gnome 2 may well have gone. There again it may well have not gone....
I'm not going to knock Unity - there are plenty of people who like it. Presumably.
Anyway, I've gone to Xubuntu, and I'm trying to make things in Xfce work as in Gnome 2.
