i can't even get windows to recognize the hd. by "shared" folder do you mean dual boot and then create a folder which both can access?
not sure i know how to do that can you link to a tutorial?

the .iso i downloaded is called ubuntu-9.04-desktop-i386. is there a seperate laptop file?
as i said i downloaded the 9.04 .iso, burned it, and turned the computer on with the disk inside-- shouldn't that make my dell laptop boot from the disk and begin installing ubuntu?
