moved post from ubuntuzilla section.
Local diversions (what used to be done by the script) are different from package diversions (what is being done now)... so it should be fine.
cool. :)
btw, for the future, if you have an ubuntuzilla-related question, i'm more likely to see it if you post in the ubuntuzilla subforum. :)
Probably you are runinng into this:

(and for now we're just gonna hope that your running thunderbird with sudo didn't mess up the...
well, 'ordinary ubuntu repositories' version probably looks for the profile in ~/.mozilla-thunderbird
which you have as a link to just ~/.thunderbird
if you're being affected by the bug... try...

Hi
it is possible you're being bitten by this bug:

(especially since it looks like you're using the ubuntuzilla script, rather than...
yes, nightly builds of firefox4.
latest mozilla release of firefox is 3.6.6, which is what is available from ubuntuzilla.
if you want nightlies, try the mozilla-daily repo as ddecator suggests....
the mozilla builds of firefox do not include the h264 codec that is used by youtube due to patent issues, so... that's a no-go.
just fyi: it's been a long time since that was the case. ubuntuzilla is now a ppa repo containing mozilla builds. as always, see site for latest details. ;)
cool. :) must have had an open window of firefox hiding on one of the desktops that one time when it didn't work... :)
yea give it another try... let know how it goes.
also try command
which firefox
that'll give you the full path of the command that would be executed if you call 'firefox'.
heh well, fwiw, been running 3.6.4 since its release, via ubuntuzilla repo, with nary a problem :P
hmm, apparently the local diversions don't play nicely with the pre/post scripts that come through from the packages...
i bet the default version was already opened somewhere, so running it just opened a new window. make sure to completely quit firefox before trying that again?
basically, look at output of:
echo...
in brief, yes :)
you're using the old instructions.
ubuntuzilla is now just a normal repository, containing mozilla builds.
see http://ubuntuzilla.sourceforge.net/ for latest instructions...
the script way still...
if you're looking for 32bit, the ubuntuzilla repo has it.
You have not read the instructions carefully enough.
this is not a command to run, but a repository to add to your sources.list.
This is likely caused by you having installed earlier with...
you seem to have installed with the old script, or installed the .deb directly, instead of using the repository.
please follow the instructions for using the ubuntuzilla repository on the...
how exactly are you trying to install software, that it tells you you have no permission?
Try the ubuntuzilla repository - .deb packs of the official mozilla releases:
http://ubuntuzilla.sourceforge.net/
(32bit only)
