Instrumental? Nah - mental, maybe...:confused:
I made a coupler of suggestions for arclance, and used his script with a tweak or two for my system. Oh, and I developed some simple line art weather...
Not Stupid....but you have to pay a fee to Weather.com :-(
Some of us are using the data from WeatherUnderground.com, which requires registration as a developer on their site to get their keys -...
I am interested in learning more; we can continue wherever you like (new thread, PMs) as time permits. I had looked at some of the info but since it doesn't end up in an easily-readable file like the...
@arclance - I am able to get 7-day forecasts, at least for now...;)
Next question: Does the Intellicast work the same way? If I add a today forecast section, would I refer to the Intellicast snow...
@arclance, @Sector11 - Thanks for the input. I'll unpack the adjusted script and give it a spin.
@arclance - after further thought, I think perhaps that WeatherUnderground is enforcing the 3-day forecast. So even though we "see" 4 days, it is actually a today forecast + three days. All together...
@arclance - Here's the zip of my files as requested...I think I included all the pertinent files. ;)
BTW, in order to make the script work at this time (the copy currently running on my machine),...
@arclance, @kaivalagi - I want to share a code snippet you may find useful. This was created for use in arclance's WeatherUnderground script, but may be handy elsewhere. I've been bored and started...
Yup! That fixed it.
@arclance - I woke up this morning to old weather data; the python script stopped with an error about 5AM. When I ran the python manually, this is what I got:
no pull yet
3666.36041093
pulling...
I don't really need them, but I didn't realize you were that far along in your revision. I was looking to save you some work; as I recall you were not planning on spending a lot of time on...
@kaivalagi - I wonder if it would be terribly difficult to incorporate one of the original conkyforecast weather fonts. I've still got some on my system, and that just involves changing to the...
@arclance - You might have edited the icon names to reflect the weather conditions, then had the script retrieve the appropriately named icon. So if the condition was Partly Cloudy, the script would...
That's too bad. Remember a couple of years ago when the remnants of that hurricane came all the way up here? We got gusts of over 50 mph. It took out a maple tree in my front yard that was bigger...
@arclance - As of my 5:11 PM EDT pull, the days of the week have straightened themselves out.
Yes, I decreased the opacity of the background. I have a lot of wallpapers that I run through a program to switch on a regular basis, and I like to see them even if partially obscured.
I did find...
@arclance - I got it working. I still had to fiddle with the True/False flags a bit to get it running the first time, but once I got a successful pull I just re-copied the python script and...
That might be a good idea. I only have a very basic understanding of python, which meant that i thought my installation was borked. Especially since i tried to provide the script with a couple...
@kaivalagi - It is possible to get multiple alerts. Earlier this year we got alerts for high winds and flood advisories simultaneously. Sometimes - maybe depending on which forecaster in the office...
I think it's my error. I forgot it is 50 requests/24 hours, not 50 requests/calendar day. I didn't realize this until when I tried to run again this AM and got another e-mail....so another raindrop...
@kaivalagi - I assume you still have yet to resolve the "pickle" and interval problem; I got an e-mail from WeatherUnderground that they had to use one of my raindrops, and when I checked the stats I...
@arclance - we almost ninja'd each other. :D
You sir, are a prince among men, etc.=D>
Adding /astronomy/ to the url returned this for my location:

"percentIlluminated":"18",
"ageOfMoon":"4",

This suggestion worked.
