  1. Re: Cannot watch TV or view recordings after DVD has been in drive

I went ahead and filed this against the mythbuntu project in Launchpad: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mythbuntu/+bug/192538.
  2. Re: PVR-150 remote and sensor without PVR-150

Thanks. I would guess that the remote would work even with another IR sensor, though? That might make it worth getting the PVR-150 with the remote anyway, since the person who it's for is used to...
  3. PVR-150 remote and sensor without PVR-150

I am working on a cheaper frontend-only box. When I buy the parts for this, I also intend to buy an extra PVR-150 for the backend. For about $10 extra, I can get the version of the PVR-150 with the...

    Re: PVR-350 Input/Output Clarification

Actually, the PVR-350 can display the desktop, but you can run into overscan issues. See the PVR-350 HOWTO for Gusty.

Re: VGA to TV out recommendations?

A video card was the other route I was considering, but I thought if I could get a converter for about the same price, it might be easier given that there is on-board video. The case I want to use...

    VGA to TV out recommendations?

Does anyone have any particular recommendations regarding a VGA-to-TV (preferably the coaxial video input, like used on somewhat older VCRs with the yellow cable being the video and red and white...
  7. Re: Cannot watch TV or view recordings after DVD has been in drive

I would file a bug on this if I had any idea on which project to file it. Is there anyone actively working on the project who could provide some insight?
  8. Re: Getting PVR-350 tuner to stay on channel 3

I actually found an ad-hoc solution in another thread:

    ivtv-tune -c 3 -d /dev/video0

This fixes the problem, and I can watch TV fine now. Now, how do I get this to happen automatically?
  9. Getting PVR-350 tuner to stay on channel 3

I have just set up changing channels on my cable box, which in itself is working fine. When I try to watch TV, however, I just get "snow." I did not have this problem before when I tuned my PVR-350...

    Re: Mythbuntu partitions guidance

I would say that on the smaller disk, you need four partitions. I would guess probably 10-15 GB for each of the distributions (each will be mounted as / within its own distribution), 2 GB for swap,...

Re: Trying to get program guide to populate

It shouldn't take days to populate. Are there any messages of interest when mythfilldatabase runs? Specifically, are there a significant number of messages like "401 Not Authorized", and if so, are...
  12. Re: PVR 350 PPA [mpeg @ 0xb748b8b0]Parser not found for Codec Id: 94210 !

I don't have any real solutions, but I think I have the same problem. I don't have access to the box right now (it was a Christmas gift for my girlfriend and it's at her place), so I don't have any...

    Re: Mythbuntu partitions guidance

From what I understand, the reason to go with JFS or XFS for the partition where the video files go is that these filesystems have much better support for large files than a filesystem like ext3...
  14. Re: DVD rip does not work...(Music CD rip works...)

For anyone finding this thread via Google, I never got this to work using MythTV's ripper (mtd). What I did instead was to mount the ISO image on /dev/loop0:

    sudo modprobe loop
    sudo mkdir...
  15. Re: Problem getting X to display on PVR 350 TV-out

Regarding things being off screen, see the (brief) discussion of overscan near the end of the Gutsy HOWTO. (The Gutsy HOWTO is only a couple days old, so it's probably not on Google yet.)

  16. Re: "Unable to initialize video"

I changed the xorg.conf in the Gutsy HOWTO to reflect that the Driver is "ivtv" not "ivtvdev". I had neglected to change that from the Feisty HOWTO. Hopefully, that will end some confusion there.

    Re: Mythbuntu partitions guidance

If you want, you could try using gparted rather than hosing and reinstalling your box (which you might get to do anyway if gparted doesn't go well :) ).

    sudo aptitude install gparted

  18. Re: Problem getting X to display on PVR 350 TV-out

Have you checked out the Gutsy HOWTO? That might have a few answers.

Are you falling back to failsafe X on boot? Your xorg.conf actually shouldn't work in Gutsy. In the Device section for the...

    Re: Mythbuntu partitions guidance

Do you recall how you partitioned the drive last time?

On my drive, I set up three partitions. One is the / partition, which is about 20 GB and is ext3. One is the swap partition, which is about...

Re: No sound on DVD playback with PVR-350

I don't have my sound set up like you do, but you might try checking "TV audio through PVR-350 only" and seeing if you are satisfied with the result. Since you have wired the sound from the TV Out...

Re: PVR-350 X TV Out Problems

I have posted a new HOWTO for Gutsy at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MythTV_Gutsy_hardware_pvr-350_TV-out . It looks like you have followed a lot of it, but you might want to take a look at it...
  22. Re: DVD rip does not work...(Music CD rip works...)

OK... I've done some digging here, and it seems that the problem might be with the DVD itself. Some DVDs apparently use bad blocks as copy protection. I may have a partial solution gleaned from...
  23. Re: "Unable to initialize video"

OK, then, I got rid of the Debian repository info. I looked at your PPA repository and realized that I actually downloaded the package straight from there and installed with dpkg -i...
  24. Re: "Unable to initialize video"

Good to know! That happens to be straight out of the Feisty howto, though. Is there a replacement for the ivtv driver in xorg in Gutsy?
  25. Re: "Unable to initialize video"

I have added a Gutsy HOWTO:

    https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MythTV_Gutsy_hardware_pvr-350_TV-out

I make no claims of correctness, so feel free to change anything to improve accuracy,...
