    Since scheduled db dumps are larger than available RAM, how about striping or using any kind of encryption that doesn't require manual intervention? Then on power loss remaining data would be junk...

    Makes sense. We're using encfs, but since there could be up to 500 boxes it'd be nice not to visit them all on boot. I'll revise the first question a bit and try to steer the conversation that way....
