Your best option is to disable PulseAudio server (in processes) then restart any programs that use sound. I listen to Amarok and play CSS while talking on ventrilo and CSS voice at the same time.
I am not sure if this helps yall but I play CSS the only time I had hard freezes, was when I turned the resolution to high.
Try turning down the res and see if that helps.
Just make sure that the application you want to configure is highlighted then go to the graphics tab and adjust as needed.
In winecfg just add application then configure for just that application. I do this with CSS and Ventrilo.
