Tried that, but it appears everything 76 is down. System76.com, Planet76.com... all inaccessible and unresponsive to pings.

EDIT: Tried again today, with Planet76 up, and it worked! Thank...
I followed the instructions on this sticky to the letter (after installing the System76 drivers and finding I lost wireless functionality) and am now again with a netbook with a fresh install of UNR...
I checked and couldn't find a BAT0 in the above directory, but there was a BAT1.

I have a star1 system which seems to be shutting down randomly whenever the battery is in the system. No issues running purely from AC, but as soon as the battery is utilized either the system powers...

And to my knowledge, if the reader was designed for the SD 1.0 or 1.1 specifications, it will not...
Embarrassingly enough, I just tried another SD card and it mounted without a hitch.
Is the card reader SDHC compatible? The one I was trying was 8GB, while the one I just tried was 1GB.

Sorry for the delayed reply.
I did as you asked. Here is the results of "tail -f /var/log/syslog" with what appeared following the insertion of the SD card in bold.

I got my Starling about midway through December, but haven't been able to get the SD card reader to work. I am suspecting that a few messages that I get each time I boot, just before the ubuntu...
I recently purchased a Starling Netbook, and was surprised to find that the documentation talked about the ability to switch from WiFi to 3G. In fact, there is a switch just beneath the Wireless...
I second that - I found it very helpful. Wish the powersupply was 12V DC output instead of 19V DC though. (Oh well. Can't have everything.)

Unfortunately, recent events have put the Lemur UltraThin out of my price range. So, I'm considering a Starling Netbook, and here is my list of questions.

I've been drooling over a S76 Lemur UltraThin for a while now, as my 8 year old Compaq Presario 900 is really showing it's age. The optical drive kicked the bucket a few years back, I've closed the...

Okay... I am willing to try it- but first could you point me to a decent free (as in price, though as in -dom would be great) drive imaging software? The current one that I use (PartImage) only...
Fortunately, my system is not that messed up and that IS an option... but I am pretty sure that I will lose all of the software that is associated with that copy of windows by doing so... which is...

Yes, but I don't have a spare drive to install Windows on again and installing windows on the damaged hard drive will require a reformat (I think) and that will mean bye bye data. So thanks for the...
If I wanted to just take my files off and start from scratch, I would have. However, I don't want to because I would lose several hundred dollars worth of software associated with that copy of...
Found a project called TestDisk which was on the "Ultimate Boot CD" (version 4.1.1, latest) and ran that. I ran a "deep analysis" of the disk and it came up with 3 partitions:

Thank you so much for replying... I was afraid nobody would.
The 2nd disk turned out to be a connected USB Compact Flash drive from my old camera. (I disconnected it.) THAT mystery is solved.
