  1. [SOLVED] Re: Netgear GA311r10 - No network connection, can't figure out why

I gave up and swapped the NIC for the card from a Windows machine. That card is working fine (and the Netgear card I had a problem with in Ubuntu is working fine in Windows). So I guess the...
  2. [SOLVED] Re: Netgear GA311r10 - No network connection, can't figure out why

I checked the settings on another Ubuntu system using the same cable, port, and router. The settings are pretty much the same, except that it uses 1000baseT/Full duplex, and the port type is mii. I...
  3. [SOLVED] Re: Netgear GA311r10 - No network connection, can't figure out why

So this gave no errors, but when I checked ethtool again it still says it is "mii".

I tried all the other combos of speed, duplex, and port, but didn't find one that worked.

    Great idea. I...
  4. [SOLVED] Re: Netgear GA311r10 - No network connection, can't figure out why

Settings for eth0: Supported ports: [ TP...

I have a PCI network card: NetGear GA311. I tried some trouble shooting to see what is wrong. I used lspci -nn and got this:

  9. [ubuntu] Re: flash still not available on FF and Chromium

Also, be sure to check the basics - like if the Flash plugin is disabled. In Chromium, go to chrome://plugins/ to see a list of all installed plugins. Flash should be listed there. If it is listed...
  10. Re: sh script runs in Terminal, not on double click

Ok, I found the answer. The ~/bashrc is not the correct place to put it. You should put environment variables in the ~/.pam_environment file. This file didn't exist for me. Minimally, I did this:...
  11. Re: sh script runs in Terminal, not on double click

Thanks guys, that helped. The 'Press enter to close. /read' option didn't work (the windows didn't stay open) but feeding the output to gedit did.

I see the error message I get is this:

    ...
