[ubuntu] Re: RT Click Encrypt Nautilus Gone 11.10

    Hi

I have exactly the same problem. This bug report files the disappearance of seahorse-plugins: https://bugs.launchpad.net/debian/+source/seahorse-plugins/+bug/796752/ It seems to be related to...
  2. [ubuntu] Re: Camera auto-mounted, but cannot download photos with "Import Photos"

Very true. I recently had to issue the commands manually because gvfs-mount didn't unmount fast enough.

Adding "sleep 1" will probably make the command work better for everyone ;)

    Hi

Nice of you to post your profile. Is it the idea to post more people's profiles on The Fridge?

I liked reading about your motivations and involvement with Ubuntu. You seem pretty active in...

[ubuntu] Re: partitioning advice: Ubuntu + Win7 RC

The disks are both SATA, so I guess it doesn't matter. The 1TB Samsung will be SATA1, the other SATA2. Shouldn't cause any problems this way.

I considered your point. The MBR will indeed be...

[ubuntu] Re: partitioning advice: Ubuntu + Win7 RC

Taking into account your feedback, I've made some changes to the scheme.

One thing I got wrong is the position of the fastest partition. The first partition will be placed on the outside of the...

[ubuntu] Re: partitioning advice: Ubuntu + Win7 RC

    Thanks for your advice already.

I looked this up and it seems Windows 7 installs the boot manager in MBR, just like XP. As the Main Boot Record (MBR) is located before any partitions, I don't...

[ubuntu] Re: NVIDIA Drivers Not Working

In "Hardware drivers" you should see your graphics card in the list (like in the window below). If you click on activate, the driver should install automatically.

    [ubuntu] Re: Partition help....?

I'm not sure what you are trying to do. I assume you want to have only Ubuntu on your computer (no Windows) and copy the system you have in Wubi.

In the Wubi FAQ I have read the following:

[ubuntu] Re: NVIDIA Drivers Not Working

I can't really help. But I have the exact same card and installing the drivers worked very well in Ubuntu 8.10.

I think I installed the drivers through administration > hardware drivers.

    When...

[ubuntu] partitioning advice: Ubuntu + Win7 RC

    Hi

I would like to do a clean install of Ubuntu 9.04 and Windows 7 RC. I've got two hard drives: a WD 320GB and a brand new Samsung 1000GB.

In my new configuration I'd like to get rid of the...
  11. [ubuntu] Re: Camera auto-mounted, but cannot download photos with "Import Photos"

Have you managed to fix it again with zzztownsend's script? Do you get an error with F-spot or do you just prefer to use another program? If your camera doesn't work with the default setting you...
  12. Poll: Re: How many extensions do you have installed on Firefox?

I have 4 extensions installed, but I only enabled 2 at the moment.

[ubuntu] Re: Unable to restart Internet Explorer on Wine

  14. [ubuntu] Re: Camera auto-mounted, but cannot download photos with "Import Photos"

That sure is useful information zzztownsend! I had no idea the dialog wasn't there in Intrepid. The preferences in nautilus seem very complete, I wished the developers had placed them somewhere more...
  15. [ubuntu] Re: Camera auto-mounted, but cannot download photos with "Import Photos"

I am using Intrepid, but I've updated from Hardy. Maybe that's why I still have these settings.

I'm not sure if all the settings work. You could try to make a "volume_manager" directory and add...
  16. [ubuntu] Re: Camera auto-mounted, but cannot download photos with "Import Photos"

I've looked around for a moment and it seems indeed that some options in "removable drives and media" have disappeared. Also I checked the "Configuration editor" and I found the settings that appear...
  17. [ubuntu] Re: Camera auto-mounted, but cannot download photos with "Import Photos"

I experienced the same problem as you do.

It seems that gvfs automatically mounts the camera and f-spot unmounts it when photographs are being imported. Gthumb (which downloaded your pictures in...

    Re: Ice_cone's ideas for Ubuntu

The Linux kernel uses a "swappiness" value to determine how to balance swap vs. RAM. Swappiness ranges from 0 to 100. Lower values mean less swap usage.

I don't remember the Ubuntu default, you...

Re: Gaim renamed to Pidgin IM

I'll have to get used to that new name. Gaim was a nice name I think, I've actually never wondered about it's meaning.

Well, as long as the development goes on. Let Pidgin 2.0.0 come to us ;)
