Re: Dell Venue Pro 8/11 with ubuntu?

Lots of stuff seemingly fixed in 3.15 -- powertop no longer broken, touch support seems to resume properly on suspend, and this seems like the best solution for Gnome 3 tray icons so far:...

Re: Dell Venue Pro 8/11 with ubuntu?

yup, I've got the keyboard battery working now too!

multitouch does work, but only in a handful of gnome apps (try pinch to zoom in the image/pdf viewer). I also haven't been able to get it to...

Re: Dell Venue Pro 8/11 with ubuntu?

Got my machine back and everything's working nice! Was able to get good suspend settings working with this package:

    Add the following...

Re: Dell Venue Pro 8/11 with ubuntu?

Thanks for the feedback, Jerry -- I was actually planning to run Antergos and Gnome 3 myself, and I would've done it last week, but I was shipped a defective mobile keyboard, so it's currently in the...

Re: Dell Venue Pro 8/11 with ubuntu?

Thrilled that you got the wifi working so (relatively) easily! I think all I'm waiting for at this point is for a kernel that actually consistently works with the touchpad and touchscreen, then ...

Re: Dell Venue Pro 8/11 with ubuntu?

if you look at the last page, it was broken in one of the 3.16 RCs, but working before that...

Re: Dell Venue Pro 8/11 with ubuntu?

Right now, the two obstacles to doing a standard USB install are:

    1) most linux distros, with the exception of bleeding-edge stuff like Arch and derivatives like Manjaro/Antergos, don't currently...

Re: Dell Venue Pro 8/11 with ubuntu?

effectively, we're now at a point where virtually everything works to spec except for the wifi, if you use one of a handful of point releases of recent kernels -- which (going by experience) means...

Re: Dell Venue Pro 8/11 with ubuntu?

There's a kernel bug report open (at least for the Baytrail version) that suggests that the relevant bus isn't being probed correctly -- looks like the wifi is as nonstandard as the display....

Re: Dell Venue Pro 8/11 with ubuntu?

Touchscreen itself works fine, touchpad on the removable keyboard + hinge + touchpad + battery attachment on the dv11p doesn't work (keyboard and battery do, though, so I'm hoping that everything is...

Re: Dell Venue Pro 8/11 with ubuntu?

Good to hear! Thanks for keeping the thread updated :)

Haven't seen much progress on the Baytrail-T video bugs lately or any mention of Atheros or Synaptics updates ... but hopefully soon.

Re: Dell Venue Pro 8/11 with ubuntu?

Thanks! So it sounds like the display, the mobile keyboard touchpad, and the wifi are the three things that really need to be fixed at a low level before this can be called "working." The display is...

Re: Dell Venue Pro 8/11 with ubuntu?

Thanks for the testimony, Migntom! I've been eyeing a Venue Pro 11 with the mobile keyboard myself but most of the feedback I could find about running Linux concerns the Venue Pro 8 rather than the...
  16. [ubuntu] Re: Intel Graphics not detected when ATI Radeon plugged

I've got a Radeon 7850 and Intel HD 3000 (i5-2500k), having exactly the same symptoms you described (iGPU display only displaying the boot logo and then being invisible to X).

    it shouldn't be more...
  17. [ubuntu] Re: Intel Graphics not detected when ATI Radeon plugged

I'm glad you were subscribed -- and I can't believe the solution, after hours of me trying to fix X.conf, is just to let it configure itself! Geez do I wish these things were documented ...

Bumping this topic because I'm having the exact same behaviour the OP describes and I've been tearing my hair out trying to solve it.
  19. [ubuntu] Two montiors -- one on 2500k iGPU, one on Radeon

    Hey there,

I'm relatively new to Linux, so please bear with me. I've just built a new machine with Ubuntu 12.04, a 2500k, and, as of yesterday, a Radeon 7850.

I had been using the 2500k iGPU...
