Hi,
I need to completely re-install my desktop as it's died.
My PC still works. It's a dual boot with Window. That OS works still and I can get a root console so luckily my data on Ubuntu is...
I'll try but I think, as the caps-lock light doesn't come on, that all keyboard activity is going to fruit-less once I get to this point.
Dp.
Hi,
My desktop has suddenly refused to load. I had applied some updates last week. My PC worked fine on Sunday but on Monday when I booted it the system froze at the point where the login screen...
I think the answer to my problem might be here.

Hi,
There seems to be a lot written about virtual networking but I am not sure what approach to take in my situation.
My local subnet has a public block of 128 addresses. I have a virtual host...
Well bugger-me-backwards, it worked. At least the Ubuntu partition is working. All my disks are available to Ubuntu. My menu.lst doesn't seem to require editing. Here what it looks like at the...
Here's my output from the grub work. I'll have to post again with the outcome of all the operations. It looks good initially.

Sorry Presence, I think we cross-posted.
I have changed the boot order in the BIOS now so it may not be what it was. The current disk order is

I had a quick attempt at this morning. I have been a bit of a spanner I now realise. I didn't think to look at the BIOS. The BIOS can specify the disk boot order of the disks it can see on the SCSI...
I don't get a menu at all. The error kicks in just as BIOS hands over. Even if I boot from the CD and choose the boot from first disk option I get something like
stage 1.5
Error 17
Thanx for taking the time.
Here's the fdisk. I have booted from install CD. All the other drives are NTFS (*******). As I said I only get the error when /dev/sdc is powered-up.

Hi,
Is there a way to increase the size of a guest's OS's disk file?
Some of the threads I've read suggest not.
My guest OS is Linux and it is using a disk file for it's hda. I can add...

That has helped. Thanx.
I wonder if, by creating my VM to use a partition and not a disk file, it has lead to these errors from virt-clone.
Is using LVM not a goos idea then you want to create VM guests? Should I just crave up the drive(s) in the extended volume as I need the (boot, swap, root) for each guest.
Unfortunately not
Yes it's an LVM Volume?
I can't seem to mount it on the host machine. The volume is craved up by the guest into 3 partitions. So when I do
mount -t ext3 /dev/mapper/VolOne-myguest /mnt

Do you mean the image file as specified by the '-f' flag? There is no file created, as a result of the command. I was expecting a image file that I could import with VMWare or similar.
If you mean...
Hi,
