It's probably because you try to run steam in a virtual windows environment and then tried to run a game in there.
You should install the linux verison of steam. http://store.steampowered.com/about/...

What version of Ubuntu are you running?
And are you sure your not in KDE? Can you post a screenshot of your desktop for example?

Both works fine with Ubuntu so it's your choice mate.

Check your Boot sequence in your BIOS and set Ubuntu before Windows that should do the trick if I understand you correctly.

Did you installed Steam from the steam site it self?
Also did you try to contact steam about this at support.steampowered.com ?

Since I installed my nvidia driver my sysinfo keeps crashing if I try to save the information.
I found out that sysinfo has some trouble with exporting the NVIDIA tab.

Someone knows how to fix...

I installed Bumblebee and my lightdm didn't crash but NS2 still doesn't launch.
The log file said exactly the same as in the beginning.

I had the same problem as you.
I posted my question on this forum and the answer was to install boot-repair and do a automatic fix.
That fixed my problem.

I have windows now but it's a pain in my ass. It's slow, doesn't listen, always does the wrong things. The only thing I still have Windows for is because I can play games on it and ubuntu can't. But...
