    When I got rid of GRUB once to go back to using just Windows XP, I think there was a way to re-install the Windows boot loader with a recovery cd.

    The reason for this is your version of Ubuntu is no longer supported.

    You will have to install or upgrade to a newer version, either Hardy Heron (8.04) or later.

    Just deleted Windows from my hard drive 2 days ago. It's a wonderful feeling. Plus, now I get to use that entire partition for my home folder, so it works out beautifully.
