[ubuntu] Re: Migrate Ubuntu to another partition.

My current Ubuntu OS is on the same partition as my Windows 7 OS. I want to delete that Ubuntu OS so that I can install the new Ubuntu OS onto the new partition. But what's stopping is GRUB2, I'm...

[ubuntu] Re: Migrate Ubuntu to another partition.

Thanks, I also forgot to mention this. Like I said, I wanted to be organized, meaning my Ubuntu partition is installed into the same one as my main Windows 7 partition. Do I merely delete it?

[ubuntu] Re: Migrate Ubuntu to another partition.

I have a 10GB partition ready on ext4 format. So all I have to do is simply install Ubuntu into that partition. Then boot into Ubuntu, then run the terminal and run "sudo grub-mkconfig &&...

[ubuntu] Re: Migrate Ubuntu to another partition.

Those links show me what "fstab" and "GRUB2" are, not what I actually want to do. I'm new to Linux.

[ubuntu] Re: Migrate Ubuntu to another partition.

Thank you, there are other posts related to my question. Although they didn't answer how to "update grub and /etc/fstab to boot the correct partition and set the proper partition". Can you tell me...

[ubuntu] Re: Migrate Ubuntu to another partition.

Also, I could just reinstall Ubuntu, although it'd save the trouble by simply migrating, hopefully. If migrating isn't an option then I would need some advice on removing Ubuntu, with GRUB2

[ubuntu] Migrate Ubuntu to another partition.

    Greetings to all,

It's me again, I wish to be a little more organized. I incidentally installed Ubuntu on the same partition as my main Windows 7.

Is there a possible way to "migrate" this...

    Thank you:popcorn:
  10. Re: How to: Create a Customized GRUB2 Screen that is Maintenance Free.

It's alright, I'll keep the extra stuff on the bottom, just in case. Everything works just as it should. Thank you for the great tutorial.

This is off topic, but do you know "Plymouth"? I'm...
  11. Re: How to: Create a Customized GRUB2 Screen that is Maintenance Free.

Hah, that's an interesting misunderstanding. :p
  12. Re: How to: Create a Customized GRUB2 Screen that is Maintenance Free.

The two custom entries are on top, but my Windows 7 entry is gone, I don't think I should have deleted that...
  13. Re: How to: Create a Customized GRUB2 Screen that is Maintenance Free.

    Instead of "GRUB_DEFAULT=0" don't I have to have "2"since I duel boot?
  14. [SOLVED] Re: Resolution reverts after Shut Down/Restart

It's hard to believe that I didn't do that earlier, this "X Configuration File" probably didn't exist so I had to save it.

Now I boot into my preferred resolution, thank you for your assistance!...
  15. [SOLVED] Re: Resolution reverts after Shut Down/Restart

Well, I tried "Save to X Configuration File" but it says "Failed to Parse Existing X config File '/etc/X11/xorg.conf'!"

After that, I'm given an option to save, which I did. Now to reboot...
  16. Re: How to: Create a Customized GRUB2 Screen that is Maintenance Free.

You're right about me duel booting into Windows 7. I have a reason to believe that I have added something to "gksu gedit /etc/grub.d/40_custom" that wasn't supposed to be there.

    Generating...
  17. [SOLVED] Re: Resolution reverts after Shut Down/Restart

Well, I was on a Recommended driver.
  18. [ubuntu] Re: No fonts, just boxes when I boot Ubuntu!

    I give no guarantee that this will resolve the problem, but you could try going to;
"System - Administration - Language Support"

    Try tinkering in there.
  19. [SOLVED] Re: Resolution reverts after Shut Down/Restart

Well, I have 2 graphic drivers listed there, I had a different version but now switched to a current version. But the problem still persists.

Here is a visual for my situation. It's an attachment.
  21. Re: How to: Create a Customized GRUB2 Screen that is Maintenance Free.

Alright everything seems in order. The background wallpaper, and now there are two new entries. "Linux Lucid" I need to verify the exact name, could you describe what those two entries are?
  22. Re: How to: Create a Customized GRUB2 Screen that is Maintenance Free.

Alright, I've finished your guide, now to reboot...
  23. Re: How to: Create a Customized GRUB2 Screen that is Maintenance Free.

    One more question, are the numbers the same? This is what I have;

echo "Adding Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04" >&2
    cat << EOF
    menuentry "Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04" {
    set root=(hd0,5)
    linux...
  24. Re: How to: Create a Customized GRUB2 Screen that is Maintenance Free.

Ahh, I see, I had to copy that code that was in the box, then modify the red found in grub-mkconfig.
  25. Re: How to: Create a Customized GRUB2 Screen that is Maintenance Free.

I didn't understand this part, what 8 lines did you mean?

These are my 10 lines below "### END /etc/grub.d/10_linux ###"

    ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/20_memtest86+ ###
    Found memtest86+ image:...
