Simple problem, hopefully someone can shed some light:

Unity works fine. I open Cheese, and have it in the corner of my desktop, now when I open Unity, the mouse stutters, menus are super slow,...

    [ubuntu] Re: 8.10+Compiz on Inspiron 9300 = Dead X?

The keyboard does work, if I flip to one of the F1-6 terminals. It doesn't work in X I guess.

I tried on my fresh install running a Gnome Failsafe. Everything worked. I disabled Bluetooth, atd,...

    [ubuntu] 8.10+Compiz on Inspiron 9300 = Dead X?

Well, this is quite unfortunate. I upgrade my laptop (Inspiron 9300) to 8.10 the other day and noticed that my mouse and keyboard were being fairly unresponsive. I thought it was just a weird X...

    Re: Game maker for Linux...

Interesting to see this old thread is still alive. Some of those programs mentioned (Stencyl and Game-Baker) look pretty cool. I also wanted to point out a Pygame-like library, but for Lua, called...

[ubuntu] Re: CCSM not playing nice...

Well, I was atleast able to get the settings the way I wanted by editting a Default.ini manually in .config/compizconfig or something, but I would still like ccsm to work. :P

    [ubuntu] CCSM not playing nice...

So, first off ccsm is not showing any icons in the menu anymore, just one of those default black image icons on every plugin. Secondly, I can't change any settings! I get an error:

    [ubuntu] Partition Resize Oddity

Well, I was trying to resize my home partition to install Vista on a little section of my drive. (3 drives, 1 is for XP, 2 is formatted ext3 for storage, 3 has Ubuntu). So Drive 3 is split up into...

    [ubuntu] Re: Problems with Emerald

I'm pretty sure there from the standard Hardy repos. I have a compiz 1:0.7.4-0ubuntu6. Perhaps I should try a 3rd party repo?

Yea, definitely no output with those commands.

    [ubuntu] Re: Problems with Emerald

Well, window decorator is enabled in the Manager, compiz --replace doesn't output anything, just eats my borders. Then running an emerald --replace also does nothing. How do I at least this stuff to...

    [ubuntu] Re: Problems with Emerald

Is metacity required to start before I can enable Compiz? Either way, what I see weird is that doing a --replace with compiz does nothing except make me lose my borders. The only error I can see in...

Darn it, how frustrating. Just updated my laptop to Hardy as well and now Compiz broke (just like it did on my desktop, but this one seems more problematic). emerald --replace, compiz --replace, none...

[ubuntu] Re: 3 Hardy Heron kinks

Thanks for the help. I was able to fix all 3 problems :D

    1. I uninstalled Swiftfox and went back to the stock FF, so far it hasn't given me any problems.

2 and 3. I had to uninstall all NVidia...

    Re: TA Spring mods

If I remember correctly, all mods should be plaed in your .spring/mods folder (usually in a .sdz or .sd7 format). So you might want to check if you have anything in there.

Re: Why can't I run Adobe Flash CS3?

You can run 8 and not CS3, why? Because CS3 obviously is jacking up the security measures, and WINE does not cope well with them. So far WINE (latest versions even) do NOT work with any of the CS3...

    Re: How to pronounce Ubuntu?

I think officially it's suppose to be oo-boon-too.

I try to use the official pronunciation as much as possible, but normally it'll come out as you-bun-too. :P
