[gnome] Re: Gnome applications seg fault after upgrade

Fixed for me now -- the overnight set of updates cleared the problem, just as Phred reported.

[gnome] Re: Gnome applications seg fault after upgrade

Oh good. I thought I did something to b0rk things up.

Upgraded, couldn't log in, grabbed the iPad, and found this thread. Ubuntu Forums delivers.
  3. [ubuntu] Re: xf86-input-mtrack: The Other Multitouch Trackpad Driver

Known issue, I'm afraid. See here.

That's my bug report from way-back-when. I still use mtrack, though, because in all other ways it's really good. I have adjusted to pushing down on the...
  4. [ubuntu] Re: xf86-input-mtrack: The Other Multitouch Trackpad Driver

I have experienced this -- here's my take on the situation.

Moving the wrist and hand downward is a natural, fluid motion, so it's easy to keep the two fingers' relative position the same while...
  5. [ubuntu] Re: xf86-input-mtrack: The Other Multitouch Trackpad Driver

I'm not familiar with Fedora, but try copying the mtrack_drv.so file to /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input (i.e. /usr/lib instead of /usr/local/lib). That's where Ubuntu expects to find it.
  6. [ubuntu] Re: xf86-input-mtrack: The Other Multitouch Trackpad Driver

I like this driver -- the customizability is terrific! I enjoy being able to use three- and four-finger gestures to trigger Expo, Scale, etc. Good stuff.

But I'm stumped on one thing. I'm using...
  7. [ubuntu] Re: font rendering with BGR subpixel order - broken in Maverick?

Last bump before I take it to Launchpad.

All of the above VM images were the 64-bit versions, and just for the sake of completeness, I decided to also try Ubuntu 10.10 32-bit. BROKEN. No...
  8. [ubuntu] Re: font rendering with BGR subpixel order - broken in Maverick?

    Anyone?

Am I the only one with a BGR monitor around here?

I tried running a bunch of virtual machines (just downloaded the desktop installation ISOs and "booted" them via kvm). ...
  9. [ubuntu] font rendering with BGR subpixel order - broken in Maverick?

This has me stumped. But you might be able to help me . . .

I have one of the few B-G-R-patterned LCD panels out there, a Dell 1800FP. In past versions of Ubuntu, I have been able to adjust the...
  10. [ubuntu] Hey, where did my subpixel font rendering go?

Maybe this is somehow related to the frequently-discussed nvidia performance regression that showed up prior to release, I don't know, but for some reason I'm not getting ANY subpixel font rendering...

[all variants] Re: HOW TO Set Up the Bamboo Pen & Touch in Lucid

    I'm running at 1280x1024. That's pretty low-res by today's standards.

I might be able to shed a little more light on this. I think there might be an overly aggressive "de-jitter" algorithm at...

[all variants] Re: HOW TO Set Up the Bamboo Pen & Touch in Lucid

Well, the "#define BAMBOO_TOUCH_JUMPED 300" fix has certainly fixed the lag I complained about back on the first page of this thread! (Believe it or not, this is the first opportunity I have had to...

    [ubuntu] Re: Monitor calibration software.

    Have you tried Argyll CMS?

The documentation page lists several Eye-One instruments as supported.

[all variants] Re: HOW TO Set Up the Bamboo Pen & Touch in Lucid

In what? Sorry, don't have that here! :p

I've been pretty much Ubuntu-only since Edgy. I do have an old Windows laptop I could try this on, but probably not for a couple of days.

    I don't...

[all variants] Re: HOW TO Set Up the Bamboo Pen & Touch in Lucid

Favux, thanks for all your contributions -- in this thread, the previous one, and of course that other one before that. Can you tell I have been following this for a while?

    Your instructions are...
