They've already given you some great links here...but from personal experience Ubuntu is very user friendly for the most part.
Just don't be afraid to click on things and explore the system. ...
Do you mean Chromium? or is there a regular Chrome for Ubuntu? I heard they were made by the same company originally.
Have you tried the "Chromium" browser? It's really pretty decent. At least you'll be able to make sure it's just a FF specific issue and not a graphics or system issue you're dealing with.
What I've done in the past is simply find the program or file and drag/drop it over...it seemed to work ok.
Is it a shortcut to a file or a specific program you want as an icon on your screen?
Glad to hear things are improving on this end of things. Fortunately I've never had freeze ups with any of my experiences on Ubuntu.
I did feel a bit of a lag in performance though when Unity...
Just giving it a whirl here, but have you tried the good old fashion way of just burning a regular CD and trying to install?
Awesome! Ok then...being of more help <game on> :)
Thanks for the reminder to be of more service around here...I was like 'hmmm' I thought I'd posted more. Wasn't aware that just 'chillen'...
Don't seem to count?
I've been in and around this forum since 2006 and for some reason my beans (post count) is stuck on 19. The only reason I noticed this was I went in to check my profile...
Honestly I don't mind it but...I do miss the older simpler feel. All change requires a little bit of getting used to I guess.
Definitely curious about this buzz on the Cinamon desktop though...I...
Someone might want to drop a link to this issue on Matt Cutts blog when he talks about Ubuntu the next time. I believe I recall he likes to also play on this OS. :) Maybe he can get it some...
Welcome to the forum and Ubuntu. I love this OS...esp after the last few updates. This forum seems to have changed a bit over time but I've always found the people here very helpful and not so...
I have to agree on the LOTR movies...I definitely preferred the books.
As for Star Wars...I'm an old school fan too but honestly have come to enjoy the new stuff. I really don't mind all the CGI...
Ok, so I have an odd question.
Why is my bean count stuck on 19? It seems, I've read, to have something to do with the number of posts you've made on these forums.
I've posted more than 50...
An OS agnostic LOL...love it.
I kind of feel the same way but finally with the latest update of Ubuntu and my ability to finally do screencasting lets me know if I wanted I could use Ubuntu for...
Ok, help me out here...what chu talkin bout Willus?
I see I have 19 beans over there, and not sure what that means...is that what you're referring to?
If beans are awesome, how do I get some? ...
Here's another vote for skype.
Of course you can always try Google +1 Hangouts.
The latest upgrade and this video I found http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6KC__daIME totally did the trick.
Screencasting or the lack of ability to do it before was keeping me from the big switch....
I have to agree on this as well. I love the latest update from GIMP, but with wine installed I also use an old copy of Paint Shop Pro 7.x and all of the filter/photo enhancements I need are taken...
You beat me to it.
Anyways, imho you can live without Adobe for most things.
The only thing I kind of like is Lightroom but honestly I can do most of what I need in other programs that don't...
My wife did this and ended up with a HTC Droid...and now is in love with it. And I'm actually jealous of her phone camera quality in comparison to my iPhone.
Sometimes dropping a phone in the...
Well then today is the day I fire up that HD and upgrade from 11.1 to the new jazz and check this out.
:)
Thanks TheFu!
I'll give that a whirl. I've installed and tried one or two others that had a GUI (which I prefer of course as I've devolved to a button-pusher lol)... and neither of them worked...
Holy schmolly, Ubuntu is getting quite the trend today over on Google +...seems something to do with 'web aps'
What's the buzz people, have the recent updates been that awesome?
Considering...
I would in a heartbeat if i could ever get Camtasia or some other screen casting setup to work on this OS.
I love it for everything else and have a second HD with it installed.
