I am not booting under normal BIOS anymore, only EFI. But i'm sure i was able to change backlight (/sys/class/backlight) when booting on CD (which forces bios mode).

The patch you mention works, but is crap and won't be added as is to any official kernel. You have to patch and compile the kernel yourself. Ubuntu has many wiki pages about that.

did you boot in EFI or BIOS mode, and what
/sys/class/backlight
contains ?

i had that issue, but now it has disappeared. Maybe because i'm using latest bluetooth stack/kernel.
Try reconfiguring your mouse using blueman: pair, trust the devices.

Writing directly to 0xB2/0xB3 io ports does not work (it does when booted under BIOS).
