  1. [xfce] Re: Icons missing in notification tray

    Thanks.
After upgrading to Saucy, I lacked the network icon also.
    Running "nm-applet &" fixed it.

    Many thanks for your post.

Re: Mate Desktop Environment - GNOME2 fork

Do not expect too much for the time being.
It works, and it works well, but e.g. the config editor is very minimal. As so is the rest.

I assume this is going to change rather soon.

Re: Mate Desktop Environment - GNOME2 fork

Alas, I could not install it. Ubiquity hangs on my computer.
Hopefully this will be fixed with the final release.

    Go and see at
    http://www.zevenos.com/download/zevenos-neptune-2

    Neptune-2 Unofficial spin.

You have to search for it, but it is there.

    I have installed it myself.

Re: Mate Desktop Environment - GNOME2 fork

    Many Thanks!

I haven't tried MATE Desktop yet, but will do so very soon. I downloaded the ZevenOS-Mate, and soon Linux Mint 12 final also will have MATE.
    Cannot wait.

    [gnome] Poll about GNOME 2.32

I'd like to ask other Ubuntu users whether they would like to keep GNOME 2.32 in the Ubuntu repositories?

I know I would like that.

[SOLVED] Re: Am I Stupid? I Lost My Partition

I know that I need to back off.

I just want to say that the Windows partition you notice on your Grub is probably the Hidden partition and not really the Windows partition which you removed.

[SOLVED] Re: Am I Stupid? I Lost My Partition

Do you know how to reinstall the windows MBR?

Start from a windows (DOS) boot disk, and run

    fdisk /mbr

    Then reboot.

    Your Windows MBR has reinstalled.

[SOLVED] Re: Am I Stupid? I Lost My Partition

I mentioned gparted before because with that program you can see whether your partitions are still there.

I do not know if you can correct errors with it. I doubt it.

[SOLVED] Re: Am I Stupid? I Lost My Partition

When running gparted, can you see all your partitions?

If so, everything you need is there.

Perhaps you can try a "surprise" force, and first reinstal the windows MBR.
    Then booting from a...
