I've tried gnome-color-chooser and that had no effect
I've tried to modify the tooltip in the default theme (which I use, Adwaita)... below are the changes I made

Couldn't find the answer to this specific question searching at large, or in this forum.
I am running Lubuntu 12.10 and have started using Cairo-Dock with xcompmgr. It runs very well and I prefer...
I think this is not possible, using this trick, as LXDE doesn't really recognize the "snapped left" as another STATE, it sees it the same as if you had manually moved it there, so there's nowhere to...
Using Lubuntu 12.10
I followed the instructions (the wiki points to .config/lxsession/LXDE/autostart but the actual file you need to manipulate is .config/lxsession/Lubuntu/autostart) and although...
Alright, I can't resist asking.. What do you mean "linux has huge permissions problem"?
Just curious as to what you see as the problem.
Check your permissions on the ~/.mozilla (and subfolders/files). It should be owned by the same user launching firefox.
If it is not, you can change ownership using
chmod user:group -R...
I saw somebody previous get slammed in this topic for discussing a card that was not an ATI 9600 like the OP's card, but the thread title was 'ATI drivers on Ubuntu 12.10' so maybe this is the right...
Since my two local users are "equal", MUST a single user be identified as the owner? Can I make the custom group (let's call it thesmiths) the owner as well as the group? like this...

Well, I found this post on how to set your default browser using update-alternatives (it updates a script called x-www-browser if I got it right)... Anyway, this page says that sensible-browser CALLS...
EclipseAgent, I think you're on to it. But my gconf setting for http/https in url-handlers points to a shell script called sensible-browser. (in /usr/bin). I will look into this (don't have time...
I couldn't find it. I followed all the steps on the TC website, except to verify the .sig because it says the external software's documentation will tell me how to do that but I couldn't find that...
Did you ever get an answer to this? It is a problem as I might not have Internet connection while I travel.
Imported public key and signed it but that didn't make a difference.
The link does not state what to do with the downloaded PGP signature. I have it, but it has a .tar.gz.sig extension.. I can't untar it (says it's not in gzip format). Seahorse doesn't recognize it...

Hi,
I am trying to install PDO_IBM extension for PHP in my Ubuntu 10.4 machine. I seem to have PDO configured for mysql (by what phpinfo tells me), but when I try to do
sudo pecl install...
Thanks for pointing out the Shuttleworth article. I had previously thought it was just an effort to move toward a Mac style interface (I'm no Mac expert but my buddy's Mac has the window controls on...
That is great, thanks for the tip.
I have a related question. Sometimes I want to drag and drop a file into a protected location. For example, I am reimaging my machine and I have backed up...
I know this is OLD, but can't you just sort the KNOWN fresh install package list, plus your package list (that has all your installed packages), and remove from your list of all installed packages,...
I was able to get around this by mounting the USB drive in a Windows XP VM (running under Ubuntu / VirtualBox), with USB Enabled (non open-source edition of VirtualBox).
When I was under windows,...
Thanks for the instructions. This worked PERFECTLY for me.
You can install the hugin-tools package (from synaptic) and that will give you command line programs that can be used to script this process. Since you won't have the GUI to locate control points...
As a disclaimer, I'm not very familiar with Ubuntu.
But, after reading this, I am wondering why not just use the upgrade manager to upgrade from 9.04 to 9.10?
Ubuntu states this path clearly on...
My bluetooth mouse (Dell BT Mouse) was working fine in Ubuntu after installing the OS. I just followed the gui prompts to connect it.
Then, after some time (right around the time I paired the...
