ping was unsuccessful.

i tried unplugging the ethernet and plugging it into the other lan port on my MB and it worked fine, (but not static) i dont know whats going on.

the computer is setup as static IP and i want to keep it that way. its a server and it has to communicate with other computers, static IP is much easier that way. ill try that ping command.

so ive installed steam and a few games through wine, and i want to uninstall them. when i run the uninstallers, it doesnt seem to do anything. the program is still in the Applications > Other list. ...

i tried the same settings on a windows install, and im getting 300 FPS. something isnt right.

why is it so slow? has ANYONE gotten comparable frames between windows and linux? what did you do?

well basically it makes me worried about other games. more intensive games. if FPS are low in CS:S imagine how bad it would be in COD4 or crysis, or any other game of similar graphics needs.

ive run the game at 800x600 and it made absolutley no difference in FPS. i do occasionally experience some studder, but its rare. is it possible that the game is incorrectly reading the FPS to me?

glx gears shows 3800-4000 FPS. in CS:S im only getting 30-40 FPS. it should be way higher than that shouldnt it?
